even though he starts, but he scores like a bucket and grabs a few rebounds in like 10 min. of play and that's it for the night. what's the point of starting him? why not dampier?

I think I heard on the broadcast that Dampier was taken out of the starting lineup for poor play and started playing better coming off the bench. I guess it's a don't fix it if it ain't broken situation.

Throw different looks at Duncan? Kind of like how we started Bowen on Dirk last year. Or maybe Dampier was late to practice? Who knows.

Yeah I think its because Dampier started doing better off the bench.

Detroit used to start Don Reid at center and he only played like 15 minutes a night, didn't score and barely rebounded, but he played physical defense and set the tone. Diop does the same thing. He doesn't play a ton of minutes, but the fact that he starts means that Dallas begins every game knowing that defensive effort is the key.

And that's the difference between this year's Dallas team and the past Dallas teams. They try on defense and are, thus, more of a threat to actually win a championship.

maybe he couldn't stand being 2nd anymore so he asked them to make him the best off-the-bench center. ;)

Hell, we started Jason Collier over Yao Ming in his rookie year for a good portion of the regular season, just so Yao would be more comfortable, even when it was clear Yao was the better player. If it works, why change it?

    What the???

02-03 stats: Yao Ming, games played: 82 (72 starts)
02-03 stats: Jason Collier, games played 13 (3 starts)

Even Kelvin Cato in 02-03 only started 5 games.

And I usually pride myself on getting correct stats...

I definitely shouldn't be posting early in the morning...
