When Rasheed was on the line, you could see that the gravity of the moment was not lost upon him. The nervous tension was readily apparent, Rasheed looked spooked, and you just knew that 'Sheed was going to miss at least one free throw. Then I realized that Chauncey was the only Piston who would be capable of shooting a free throw. What did shock me was the sight of: A) The Cavaliers failing to foul as soon as Tayshaun got the rebound (inexperience taking hold) and B) Chauncey missing a free throw, making the game far tighter than it should have been. All I can say is that it's going to be a hell of a game 7...
Cavs cant hit the 3 pointers (0-5 so far). Pistons cant hit the FTs (8-18 so far). Same ole story. Looks like another close game to the end.
I agree that it will be close, but even though the Pistons are the Champs, and playing at home,I just have that feeling that Lebron 's ability to take over down the stretch will carry the day.
I would foul Ben Wallace everytime he touches the ball in the 4th. He is hitting only 2-18 of his FTs in the last 3 games. It's 11%.
This is a HORRIBLE 2nd half. BOTH teams are choking like dogs. LeBron and Snow are the only Cavs playing worth a dime on offense. The other Cavs have lead in their feet. The Pistons are also doing their version of gagging in unison. UUUUUUUGLY basketball. I was thinking tough defense was the reason but it's more than that.
Can anybody dispute now that the Pistons have a huge talent advantage on the Cavs? They have a team full of seasoned players. After LeBron, the Cavs just aren't very good. This is gonna take a very special 4th quarter for the Cavs to win. If the Pistons play loose and energetic, this game is already over. Props to Lindsey Hunter.
Either way, these playoffs have been incredible, the best in a long time. On the Cavs and Pistons talent thing...The starting five for Detroit is an amazing collection of talent who plays basketball the way it should be played, together. That said,it seems we are watching a Magic/Jordan type player in his infancy. How much greater is Lebron's talent than anyone on the Pistons? This guy will be carrying teams on his back to the Finals for awhile.Maybe it's not time yet,but we'll see.
Well, it was a great year for the Cavs. They did as well as they could reasonably do. They'll be back and hungrier next year as a 3rd seed(which they would've been this year if the seeding was adjusted) and have another crack at Detroit in the ECF.
I never thought for one second that the Cavs would take out Detroit...it was more like Detroit needed a reality check, they thought they could win by just showing up...
They lost game 6 by 2 points, if they would've grabbed a rebound the series would've been there's. How can you say they had no chance of winning?
if lebron didn't forget that he could drive or post up in the 2nd half it would have been over. ps: why dont the cavs have any spacing? its worse than playground basketball playing 5 on 5 half court or something.
Unless LBJ gets good enough teammates he won't be making the Finals. But I have a feeling he'll get there a few times. The Cavs made two big mistakes in re-signing Z to his big contract and by signing Damon Jones. Damon has been completely exposed this year as nothing more than a specialty player. Playing next to Wade last year hid his many flaws. He needs to stop complaining about how he started last year and has a hard time dealing with not starting this year. He looks like Earl Boykins out there. Z has been a big zero. He's a legit big man about 1/2 the time; against Detroit he was legit 1 game out of 7. I give LeBron and Mike Brown credit for taking the Pistons to 7 games. The other players did very little. One thing the Cavs must guard against is this playoff run getting hopes up too high for next year. Their roster has a lot of weaknesses and it will be tough for them to be a real contender next season. I'll bring this up again later.
Cavs shot 30% FG this game. I will say it, they had their chance in game 6. They could have had the ball in their possesion with a 60+ seconds on the clock down by just 1 point... IF they could get a defensive rebound. But anyway, THIS cavs team wasnt ready. next year they will be a better team. Lebron will have another year of experience under his belt. Depending on what moves the cavs make this offseason - They might just be my odds-on favourite out of the east. You cant beat the pistons shooting 30% FG. Which is what the cavs shot game 7
While Cleveland had their shots in the first half, nothing wanted to fall their way. Like Hubie said, "They're getting open looks, but they're just not knocking them down!"
This series was a huge growing experience for Lebron. I can only imagine what he has in store for us next year.
In the 2nd half, the Pistons tightened up on LeBron and he'd see 2 or 3 defenders whenever he drove. And he wasn't hitting his shot at all from 15-17 feet. To answer your question: Because NONE of the other players had any intention of contibuting on offense. Hughes was awful; I can shoot better than that. Clearly his shot and timing are way off and he finally figured that out by halftime. At least Eric Snow took the wide open lanes to the basket and drew a couple of fouls. The other guys were timid and just walked around the perimeter looking disinterested. Gooden tried a little to be aggressive but he just didn't have it today. Any team that gives him a big contract will regret it. He's good trade bait. I told my son at halftime there was no way the Cavs would win today because LeBron was their only player who had any pep in his step. The others were 9/41 (22%) from the field. Detroit was ripe for the picking today but the Cavs team wasn't close to being up to the task. LeBron said after game 5 that winning it wouldn't matter if they lost the next 2.
