The Houston Texans announced that they have waived quarterback Dave Ragone.

The team currently has 95 players on the active roster.

Good he sucked. He couldn't even beat out Tony Banks for the #2 spot. Another wasted 3rd round pick after taking David Carr #1 the year before. I guess undrafted free agents Matt Baker of North Carolina and Quinn Porter of Boston College will compete for the #3 spot if Kubiak chooses to keep 3 quarterbacks something Mike Shannhan didn't like to do, he usually only kept 2 QB's.

Ragone, BJ Symon (TTech QB), etc...one of a long list of wasted draft picks...

If you look at all the players drafted after him, not a lot of great talent out there anyway. Except Dom.

There must have been a reason he didn't get any playing time last year. I wasn't a fan of Banks, so I was disappointed when Ragone didn't make an appearance.

Charlie Pallilo did a rant listing off players that the Texans "passed on" in each high round of eachg draft... trust me, it wasn't pretty. :(

In hindsight, this could be applied to many other teams as well.

As for Ragone - I never liked the idea of getting a lefty anyway.

Pleyars drafted after Raggone included: Jullian Battle, CB, Angelo Crowell, LB, Billy McMullen, WR, Todd Johnson, FS, Montrae Holland, OG, Bradie James, LB, and Terrence McGee, CB, to name just those that came after him (and in a few cases, after Davis). Oh, and a local QB too... :D

he never really had a chance to compete for the backup job....I firmly believe Capers would have had Banks as the backup even if Ragone played better....I mean, apparently he is cappable of winning...i.e. World League....just really never got a chance here....just my 2 cents...

this is disturbing. all those wasted opportunities the past 4 years when our season was over....never even gave the guy snaps. throw tony banks in there instead. unreal. what a poorly run franchise we were for past 4 years.
the guy won enfl mvp, and looked great last preseason.

oh well, what do i know.

This is the Texans trying to save face.

The cut him because he might have beaten Carr out of his starting job if given a real chance.

Carr continues to get a free ride at a job that was given to him and they won't even bring anyone in to challenge him.

Another major blunder by Casserly, or did he also blame this one on the coaching staff.
