HONG KONG — Jackie Chan and Jet Li — two of the biggest names in action films — plan to co-star in a new movie, a news report said.

A formal announcement will be made at the Cannes Film Festival, the Chinese news Web site Sina.com said Tuesday. The festival, which opened Wednesday, runs through May 28.

Chan and Li are still brainstorming about the plot for their first collaboration, which will begin shooting next year, the Web site said.

Publicists for the actors didn't immediately return calls from the Associated Press seeking comment.

The actors made their names as action stars in Hong Kong before moving on to Hollywood. Trained in Peking Opera, Chan pioneered his own comedic fighting style. Li is a former martial arts national champion in China.

Chan's Hollywood credits include the Rush Hour series and The Tuxedo. Li starred in Lethal Weapon 4, Romeo Must Die and Cradle 2 the Grave.

    LAWL

    anyway...

    The Tuxedo?? blargh!

I realize Chan hasn't had a lot of 'hollywood' films but, couldn't they have mentioned "Shanghai Noon" along with Rush Hour, instead of 'The blah-xedo'..?

Probably didn't wanna make Jet Li's hollywood credits look even crappier in comparison.. oh well

what i don't understand is why Russel Wong (played the villain in Romeo Must Die) doesn't have the stardom that Jackie Chan and Jet Li do. Wong speaks perfect English, knows his martial arts, and according to all the chicks I know, he's a hottie. Maybe he is big in China and i just don't know about it.

Jackie Chan is funny but i can never get over Jet Li's girly voice.

So who's cast as the translator?

Or else it'd be half fighting and half not understanding wtf they're saying.

russel wong had his own tv show(vanishing son) in america and was also in the movie joy luck club. he is a popular actor, but since he's not in any HK movies (not that i know of at least), he will never be a superstar. a good agent plays a huge role if you want to make it to the top. most/all of the famous HK actors come from this one talent school in china/hk (obviously i forgot the name).

the only reason jet li 's hollywood credits are so crappy is because when he first came here he hooked up with that fat piece of shyt joel silver who tried to put him in those hiphop/kung fu movies with the shytty rappers.

Jet Li hasn't had any huge box office hits, but almost all his movies gross about $40MM after his first few weeks here. The man doesn't get you any super smash hits, but you rarely go bust on anything he does either.
