    Your team wouldn't have Lebron?

RM is on a mission to drive up the post count. :D

Yao not being All-NBA does not surprise me.

Rox don't get RESPECT from the media.

Let's just win the next 5-7 titles the year after next.

All-NBA means jack when you don't have rings on your bio.

I can't believe people are still harping on Yao for his D. Yao's mere presence alone on the D end changes how other teams go about their game plan. He alters shots and clogs up the lane for drives. Sure he gets dunked on every now then but what NBA center including Shaq and Wallace doesn't get dunked on occassionally. When Yao is in the game though its not as though the other team is constantly dunking and getting open looks near the hoops. What happens is that you see a lot more perimeter shots and usually in the past two years its the lack of perimeter D not interior D that's been killing the Rox.

Miami is a tad over 3-1 to win the title...
Detroit is ahead of them at 7-4,along with Dallas at 2-1.
I figured I'd give you a nice price.

RocketsMac is entitled to have his own opinion, so do not get too personal  . As for the All-NBA team, I think Big Ben ahead of Yao is the real joke.

Spot on. When Yao's in the game, teams definitely penetrate the lane less. The proof of his defensive presence is in the fact that the Rox have been among the league leaders every year in points-in-the-paint. Also, Yao's counterpart typically scores below his average. This is a great testament to Yao's man-to-man post defense. Who ever tries to post him up besides Shaq? There's two things he doesn't do that well: guard long range shooters like Brad Miller and guard the pick-and-roll, which he's gotten much better at. This past year, you didn't see teams iso-ing Yao as much as in the past against a smaller guy (e.g. Josh Howard, Trenton Hassell).

Yao gets no love from some people in this country. Sometimes you have to thank the supports fof Chinese people. Look at Allstar, Yao is alway No.1 no matter what other people are joking.

Out of 3 all NBA teams, only Yao and AI are not in the playoff so I think it tells team performaces really matter. AI's stat are better than most 1st and 2nd team.....

I think Yao is focusing on fitness and the basketball is his main sport. Sounds like you can't counter some points and you're just bringing up the "Chinese people can't play bball" card.

Your post kind of sounds like:

I work with some white people on technical projects. I grew up in America amongst white people. THEY JUST AREN'T GOOD AT MATH. It's just not their focus so you can't really blame them...I'm talking from experience...Don't care is some white dude signed a max contract with the Pentagon or if said white dude has one of the best personal trainers money can buy - he's still white so he sucks at math.

Would ANYONE trade away Yao Ming for Ben Wallace straight up? NO

Would ANYONE trade Ben for Yao? Yes - everybody would, except for Ben Wallace.

Dude look at what your sayin, how did you just disprove anything I said. You only helped my case, everything I said was true. He doesnt get to the line much when we are comparing Yao to Shaq or do you think 8>10. Also Shaq is the better rebounder just look at the link yourself. Yaos Reb Rate is a 17.5, Shaqs is a 17.6 so a slight edge. Look at their Ast Ratio another edge to shaq, as for defense since there are little scoring bigmen now adays you have to look at his impact on his teams defense and just look at whos avg more blocks in less time, consider that the Rockets defensive scheme is to crowd the paint to help yao which exposes our small defenders on the perimiter and which is why we suck at defending the 3, whereas Miami rarely doubles and rarely plays zone up untill the playoffs because of Ney Jerseys inability to hit the 3 ball.

So again my stance has been the same since yaos season ended, he played well enough to be a first teamer if he had not been in the lottery because these numbers on a winning team are alot more impressive. But because they played too similar its hard not to give it to the guy who is currently in the ECF. And in no way does it discredit yao and you guys can act like hes been deprived of his own greatness all you want. But next year you want have to I gaurantee he will be a 1st team because he will actually deserve it.

Yao can't defend? What a joke. Here are some stats from 82games.com and other sites:

-The Rockets are the best in the league at forcing jumpshots, with 72% of their opponents' FGAs coming from outside the paint. Do you think Juwan "blocks worse than a PG" Howard is thre reason opposing teams are scared to take it inside?

-Yao gives up an eFG% of 0.459, and a mere 14.4 points per 48 minutes. This is very good, and better than Ben Wallace and Marcus Camby. His opponents' PER of 11.6 is also extremely low, and you'll have a hard time finding someone who gives up less. Shaq is the only one I found.

-Yao blocks 3% of opponents' shots while in the game. This was a subpar blocking year for him, and down from the 4% (which put him in an elite handful of players) of last year. However, this was still above average compared to other big men (most were around 2%).

-Yao's defensive rebounding percentage was 22.4%, which is excellent. His rebounding in previous seasons wasn't as good, but it was still well above average. Yao being a poor rebounder is a MYTH.

-The Rockets gave up 3.3 less points per 100 possessions when he was on the floor.

    Yao is an excellent defender.

Allright I was really give your oppinion alot of thought up untill the part where you said Winning is Irrelevant. Like I just said, Defensively Shaq was the better help defender and his strength in the paint allowed Miami to get away with little to no doubling down there, where JVG gameplan is to crowd the paint. And according to your Opposing Efg Shaq is as good a defender as Ben Wallace ???? OK not sure about that one buddy, heres a hint next time you want to use a formula to strengthen any case your tryin to make, try and find one that isnt so inconsistant and not easily shot down. Big Ben is twice the defender that Shaq and Yao are and opposing C fg% isnt goin to convince anyone otherwise.

So would you come to the conclusion that Yao is a better defender than Ben Wallace? Because after all he does have a better efg% allowed. Another reason why we "force jumpshots" is because we crowed the paint and leave teams open for those uncontested jumpers which is why we are among the worst and defending the 3 ball.

Yao is definately the better man defender, which most people never praised Wallace as. Wallace is a much better rebounder, shot blocker, and stealer.

Sure Shaq gets to the line more. I never said 8>10, but 8 is not "doesn't got to the line much" like you asserted. And Yao makes more FT's per 40 anyway, due to Shaq's putrid foul shooting and Yao's excellent foul shooting.

If you're going to say that 17.5 is a significant difference than 17.6, I'm going to just laugh. All those numbers tell me is that Yao and Shaq rebounded at the same rate. A difference of .1 indicates NOTHING, so Shaq DID NOT rebound better.

I never said Shaq's assist ratio isn't better. A little wimpy straw man argument you put up there. Yao could stand to pass better. I never said that wasn't true, so you are putting up a straw man, a logical fallacy.

Instead of spouting lies, and then backing them up with straw man arguments, try actually thinking before you post.
