This would be awesome to do in the waning seconds of a basketball game! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtjAiPuU0S0&feature=Recent&page=6&t=t&f=b
I'm going to say it one last time again... VIOLATION: palming, then carry. Turnover. 'Course any referee that calls that off will be shot outside the stadium by hoodlums who want to see excitement instead of law-abiding basketball.
If his sorry ass teammates were any good, they would have been running the break with him. Check the video out again...it's practically one-on-five.
I don't really see how it is traveling. He dribbles high, but not over his shoulder. When he bounces it up, he essentially picks up his dribble on the dunk, so I'm not sure I'd call that a carry. Plus, you could say he no longer has possession of the ball once he bounces it up since his defenders pretty much have as good a chance to get it as he does.
Pretty good points, Juan, but if you say that dribbling stops when he puts it over his shoulder, that means he can't grab it again, as if it was a loss of possession. If you say that it's not a stop of possession, then it's a palming because he puts his hand UNDER the ball to bounce it harder. Either way, here's proof it's over his head, give or take a few inches. Also, the rule is defined so that it doesn't create an unfair advantage, and in this case, it seems like he's passing it to himself (a no no in any league rule).
