    The Draft:
Draft Rodney Carney we let RJ go the first time... this kid is his clone. Carney, TMAC, and Head will be unstoppable on the break.

    Offseason Moves:
If we opt to stick by TMAC then we trade Swift and J-HO for K-MART and that would be a successfull offseason. If we decide to do otherwise i say we ship TMAC and Sura along with a 2nd rounder to the 76ers for AI and Korver. If that happens i say we draft Macus Williams from Uconn.

    Ming/Mutombo
    Martin/Pittsnogle/Lampe
    TMAC/Bowen
    Carney/Head
    Alston/Sura/Gibson (texas point guard)

    Ming/Mutombo
    Martin/Pittsnogle
    Korver/Bowen
    AI/Head
    Williams/Alston/Sura

I can't stand Martin. As tempting as it is to get rid of Howard and Stromile, Kenyon Martin really rubs me the wrong way.

Carney looks to be a strong possibility for the draft.

You want to get rid of Hayes and keep Lampe? Can't agree with that.

Man, I get high on Rodney Carney too, well at least if Roy and Gay are off the board...

but he looks to me like a player that lacks passion for the game - hence I PASS. Rjeff in college was a defensive beast who tried 100% on the floor, I just never knew that he would develop the offensive skills that he did in the NBA.

Carney might have Rjeff's athleticism, but I don't believe he has his drive.

And please NO to AI for Tmac. AI is getting up there in age and he has just about as much wear on his body as Tmac.

I also agree with durvasa on Kmart.

I'm also not a huge fan of Pittsnogle, he reminds of an old Sam Perkins, and I think that's the last thing we need, a slow-footed big shooter, I'd rather have Novak if we go that route, but really I want neither.

    My Ideal draft?

    Any one of:

    #8 (In order)
Gay, Roy, Carney, M. Williams, S. Williams, Splitter

    #32
    (whichever one slips)
Maurice Ager, Paul Milsaap, Dee Brown, Shawne Williams

    If none slip then...
Leon Powe, PJ Tucker, James White, Steven Smith, Bobby Jones

and finally use FA to bring over Spanoulis/Rasual Butler.

Or if Spanoulis doesn't want to come over, then try for Jared Jeffries, Vladimir Radmanovic, Sam Cassell, James Posey...

If they all don't want to come then look at qyntel woods, possibly cato

AI for T-Mac? Are you kidding?

First of all, AI is getting old and will soon lose fuel.
Secondly, doubt he would be able to adjust effectively and quickly into the Rockets system, especially under JVG who demands defense and feeding the ball to Yao.

Kenyon Martin has proved a lot in the past two years...

    1. He's absolutely helpless against the elite power forwards of the West
    2. He's lost without a great point guard
    3. He's injury prone.

You still want to pay a $12 million/year contract for a guy who's averaging 14/7 out West?
We already have the "60% discount" version in Swift.

    dream offseason with keeping tmac:

    1. trade stro, #8, and S&T wesley to the hornets for JR smith, PJ brown, #12.
if we have to throw in #32 or take thier #15 instead of #12 then fine.
    2. draft splitter.
    3. trade Jho for jaric.
    4. sign tim thomas.
    5. replace gundy with adleman.

    yao-deke
    PJ-splitter
    tmac-TT
    JR-head
    alston-jaric

Like someone mentioned in another thread the best offseason for me would be this:

trade Swift and 2nd rounder for JR Smith and latter first round pick (like people said a high 2nd is not that bad and plus people are all saying the talent is this draft isnt too great so what would they expect in the 1st round) - we get th eathletic swingman who can shoot

draft Shelden Williams with the #8 and JJ Reddick with the #12 - we get our enforcer pf with a lil range and our shooter in jj reddick, and they both have chemistry

Use mle on bringin in vspan or use it to get a good backcourt defender,or both you guys just fill it in with someone affordable (Posey,Bobby Jackson, etc.)

    so that leaves us with

    Alston/Head/Vspan
    JR Smith/?/Reddick
    Tmac/Bogans/Bowen
    Sheldon/Jho/Hayes
    Yao/Mutombo

Wesley is most liekly gone and hopefulyl we can brign sura back if he is healthy. This is my ideal offseason. And we would be pretty athletic young and deep. Kmart is too inujury prone ande will never be the same again. Carney, Roy, and Gay would be great too so iunno about that, i just think this scenario would be the best.

Realistic offseason and upcoming season that i want it to happen. Yao n Tmac are going nowhere. Possible lineup:

    Yao/Mutombo
    Jho/Swift/Hayes
    Tmac/Bogans(or Possible Draft pick SF)
    Head/Frahm(or possible draft pick SG)
    Spanoulis/Alston

Following players are gone: Bowen,Wesley, Brunson, Lampe.

If Sura returns then most likely Bogans or Alston is gone and we draft a SF-SG that can shoot 3s. I think Rockets really like Spanoulis and they are already comparing him to Tony Parker so I am sure they will sign him this season and I really want them to sign him as well.

I think we should keep Frahm because he showed good signs of outside shooting. He can knock down those 3s that we desperately need off the bench.

For the draft pick I really want the rockets to pick up a backup SF that can also play SG that can create his own shots and shoot from outside. This team badly needs a consistent third scorer and we should look for it in the draft.

Rockets really dont have the money to pick up a good free agent next season so I think we should just keep the roster I mentioned above and we should do just fine and make the playoffs.

If Yao and Tmac are healthy then we make the playoffs for sure. Also if we get a perfect SF-SG from the draft that can create his own shots and shoot from outside and makes an immediate impact then we will be in great shape. And all the hype about Spanoulis becomes true, we are sure gonna get pass the first round of playoffs. Imagine a PG that playes like Parker with Yao n Tmac.....Rockets will be one hell of a team!!

George Karl would do handstands if someone were willing to take Martin off his stands. His stock could not be lower than it is right now (well, maybe, if his knee totally collapses), and that drop is deserved.

    MUTOMBO=Dead meat
    MARTIN = Trouble and injuries
    BOWEN= NO ability
    ALSTON= NOT good enough
SURA= retired mind However I like your DRAFT picks. Lampe has potential but needs coaching and I am not sure that JVG and the present staff is of a mind set to do this.

I would pass on Rick Adelman but make a run for Pete Carril as an assistant. The Kings O would be a good fit for Yoa's passing ability.

Looking at http://www.nbadraft.net/, I like Rodney Carney best at the 8th pick. But he may move up. He appears to be a better prospect than Brandon Roy. Randy Foye and Marcus Williams both 1s may also drop.

Whoever they draft will likely not be an impact player next year. Whoever they sign with the MLE will have more impact next year. The picking appear to be slim for MLE ...

I agree Kmart is a twelve million dollar version of Stro with passion. To be honest I'd rather keep Stro. How about going after Al Harrington? He has offesive skills average defense but he will try and can score in the post and hit the jumper plus he is at a cheaper price than Kenyon Martin

Ok heres a question for all of you, say we get lucky and get a higher than expected draft pick would you, if given the oppertunity be willing to trade that pick for Maggette? Clips could do without him and word is they might just be lookin for a pick/filler swap.

Question is, does he seem worth it to you?

Anyone who wants Kenyon Martin isn't thinking it through. We just went through the most injury plagued season in recent history and you want to trade for Kenyon Martin? He makes max dollars, gives you Juwan Howard type production and is lucky if he plays half the season. Not a good idea.

Also, Jason Kidd is not our point guard.

My ideal offseason includes getting rid of injury prone players, not adding them. It also includes adding shooters.

There are several options out there, but there is one truth:

This team must add a legit SG. Not a career backup. Not a guy winding down his career. Not a D-League project. Not a 2nd round pick. Not a guy coming back from injury. A legit SG.

This is the truth because TMac is not healthy enough to play 40 minutes a night, so we need another scorer.

If we do not acquire such a SG this offseason, either through the draft, through trade, or through free agency, then this offseason will be a failure.

    RJ scouting report

Strengths: World class athlete with great strength. Defense is his greatest asset. Potential is very intriguing despite his current skll level due to the fact that he was a post player in high school. He is still getting a feel for the perimeter after three years at Arizona on the wing.

Weaknesses: Not a great ball handler or passer but these skills are still developing. Shot can be inconsistent, and doesn't shoot well off the dribble. Statistics did not show continual improvement, granted the team around him improved, but the lack of development is a concern.

    Carney scouting report

    NBA Comparison: Richard Jefferson

Strengths: Highlight reel waiting to happen ... One of the most athletic players in all of college basketball … Jump shot has improved ... Big upside… Long and lean … Very versatile… Great elevation on jumper which is nearly impossible to block… Confident… Good poise … Pesky defender … Blankets defenders with his long arms and quick feet… Anticipates well and plays the passing lanes for steals ... Really gets up and grabs rebounds … Excellent speed and quickness …

Weaknesses: Needs to add strength, put time in the weight room and bulk up some ... Can be prone to taking bad shots at times … Forces shots … Must become better at handling the ball and creating offense for himself ... Settles with the outside shot instead of trying to get something easier … Lacks great vision and passing ability ... Needs to shoot with more consistency… Can be too reliant on his athleticism ... Needs to get a little tougher on the court ... Too right hand dependent, needs to become better at handling with his left hand ...

no Kmart. As a former Nets fan (yes Yao made me a Rox fan) - i was glad to see him go (for the $$ he was asking for).

I think Denver regretted getting him several hours after the trade.

    That contract is just ridiculous.
