According to Yao's book, he has an written agreement with CBA to play in Asian game, Asian championship, WC and Olympics too. Chinese official already did their part for not forcing Yao to play this time.

This is an AMERICAN BBS, about an AMERICAN basketball team.

However, not all AMERICAN'S feel that Yao should not play.

You know what? It is not up to any of us....it is all about how Yao feels.

And, since it is HIS body, I am happy to support whatever decision the big fella makes.

Play for the WC or not, whatever he wants to do.......

And MOST AMERICANS do care about what goes on in the rest of the world, heck the WORLD cup starts in one month.......

    USA U-S-A !!!!

Say it loud, say it proud....

Ultimately it's in the mutual interest of both countries, and most of all Yao for him not to rush back.

Right your are Dr., but knowing Yao's history of playing hurt he's probably going to rush back to be in the WC. I mean he played on a toe that would have had almost any other player watching from the bench. He's a guy that sacrifices himself in unselfish ways which is great, but it could have disastrous effects for both the Rockets and Chinese National Team if he comes back to soon and suffers a serious injury.

Yao isn't stupid. This is a scary injury and he knows it. I doubt he rushes back too soon.

Really? How come CNN and FOX don't cover much world news then, except Iraq and maybe Israel-Palestine conflict? I watch BBC and Euro News in order to get some exposure.

And first year Yao played in some cities, they handed out fortune cookies. Yeah, great understanding of Chinese culture!

Look, the rest of the world knows about US a lot better than the other way around.

Yao is not the best person to make a decision on whether he can play, WC or a regular season game. He will always want to play. He should liston to Doctors.

I have to agree. It seems that way. The fortune cookie thing, was STUPID. How would they feel if Shaq came to China and they hand out fried chicken, and corn bread or whatever black food there is?

Because they are in the business of making money, and people care more about what is happening at home, but that does not make them disinterested in what is happening around the world.

Broaden your viewing habits and you can find some good world news. The BBC also focuses primarily on England, but the BBC that we see is their world telecast.

So, you are finding out about the world on a US television, right? So what was your point again?

Black food? Ugh. This is a pretty bad post.

There is no black food, just as fortune cookies are not a chinese tradition.

Can we stop this now please?

Why do I get the feeling that if this were Yao rushing back to get to the Rockets for the playoffs, we'd be begging him to play through injury and forget about the rest of it?

    Funny how priorities work sometimes.

Let me also state that this is NOT the place for arguing about American values or whatever the hell it is you guys are arguing about. Take it to the D&D or stop posting.

The point is: the rest of the world understand US a lot better than the other way around.

Most americans would rather watch police chasing stolen cars on TV than watching real important world news. Doesn't that prove something? Most americans can speak only one language while the majority of rest of world speak at least 2 languages. Doesn't that prove something?

How many americans follow the current movement to the left in latin america? How many americans understands the economic environment in Europe and Asia right now? The rest of the world knows US inside out, yet few americans know the outside world.

    This is way off topic.

So do us all a very big favor and stay ON topic. Don't feel compelled to get in the last word.

Taking this to the D&D direction, how much does the average citizen in another country care about the non - US related world politics? How much of the 2nd language of most of the world country is English?
