Great title, Donald Sutherland, Sissy Spacek, you'd think these would be elements for an above average scary movie, right? Hardly. I went to Walgreen's to buy a couple of snickers and a dr. pepper and heard this dude in his car asking me if I wanted a movie. Intrigued because I'd never done the bootleg thing before I went over there. This dude had a virtual isle straight out of Blockbuster and was negotiable, I bought "AAH" and "Silent Hill" for 10 bucks and felt like because of the price of gas these days it was somehow OK. Back to the movie... Donald Sutherland plays this guy that screwed over his neighbor by overcharging her for some property and some slaves (I damn near turned it off), the lady gets pissed and puts the VooDoo on his daughter and him...supposedly. His daughter Betsy (Rachel Hurd-Wood) gets the full blast of the curse and is in full Regan mode within the first 20 minutes of the flick. They wrap this corny situation around the movie, see, Donald Sutherland's character is set around slavery times and the movie opens present day. The end of the movie was kind of cool, integrating a present day dilemma into this kind of movie was the first time I'd ever seen it work out like that. It actually didn't work out but it was a nice try. GRADES Talent- A Story- D Creepy Kid Images- B Twist- B- Bootleg Quality- B (Someone farted right at the end, I don't know if it was in the movie or if the guy holding the camera squeezed one out).
That's funny AB. I just borrowed a bootleg copy of King Kong and watched it as long as I could (about 30 minutes) May be the worst movie I have ever seen. The camera work and the sound were very good. No heads in the way If all goes according to plan I should be watching Silent Hill (bootleg) by the end of the week.
SPOILER AT the end of the movie there is a rough cut to a woman dancing with her thumbs pointing out, her arms and legs akimbo. Very creepy.
