I am just as hopeful about Mcgrady's back. A doctor bud of mine isn't so optimistic. he explained (now, I will butcher it, but the general idea is...) that his spinal canal/column or whatever is very small and so any swelling at all with his back will result in tremedous pain. I suppose some swelling is ok for most of us with "normal" backs, but T-mac's is very narrow. When I asked what's the best thing he can do, he said..."not play basketball." With that all said, i don't know if he actually heard from a doctor who checked out tmac or what. It does leave me concerned, but at the same time, I know better and will just watch and see what happens. I hope my bud is mistaken, and T-Mac will be able to play great for at least a few more years.
well kobe keeps drawing comparisons to MJ at his prime (even debated on 610 today) I have never heard TMAC being compared to MJ ever...and we all can agree MJ is the greatest player ever.
Yes they did in 2002 when his numbers were almost 26/8/5 at the end of the season, then 2003 he was 32/6.5/5.5 he was 21 & 22 years old putting that up. Jordan and Mcgrady's game is so different. Kobe tries to be like micheal and tracey be tracey. Kobe rides Micheal Jordan D**K too much!! Did yall see when kobe hit the Game-winning shot against phoenix? He immediatetly did the micheal jordan pose, that S**t was gay of kobe. Make up your own sh*t! ( When T-mac hit the game winner against Dallas Game 2 last year, when he hit the last shot on 13 n 35 seconds vs. Spurs, or anytime he takes a game winning shot and hits it he never tries to act like jordan and for that t-mac always get my respect.
you mean this past season? heheh I'm not saying you are wrong, but what makes it obvious for you? Chances are, many have arguments against your reasons. I hoenstly can't say who is better. Until T-mac and Yao get to play together relatively injury-free, it's always going to be a hard debate... so question is, now that yao has proven (for half a season) he can be dominating...if T-Mac wins some rings, who then is better? B/c on the flip side, neither has done much without a good/great big man.
Indeed, i think that kobe >> T-mac.. i dont like kobe, but the fact is that no matter physically or mentally, kobe is better than T-mac..
Kobe is better in many ways, but not all of them. It's not the durability. What separates Kobe from 99% percent of players in the NBA is his determination. Tmac included.
I have grown to like T-Mac more even though Kobe has at least played better than McGrady, debatable as to whether or not he is better, also I think if either of them accomplish anything great from here on out it will be McGrady, barring any severe injuries of course!
Over all I still think KOBE is a better player than Tmac I dont like LBJ to much be he has gone farther on his own than Kobe n Tmac has. (disregard the Kobe/Shaq era) How come Tmac is never mention for the USA team? but when AI wasn't put on it was a big deal? Tmac better get out of the first rd or make it to the WFC soon because for a superstar like him to never GET OUT OF THE 1st rd is pretty bad. We have been talking about KG for so long, but Tmac would have a harder time getting into the HALL OF FAME if he doesnt get far soon. Kobe is already a LOCK!
Right now? Yes. T-mac is coming off a horrific season and it's questionable whether he'll ever be the same and Kobe just scored 37 ppg and dragged a bunch of nobodies to the brink of defeating the Suns. Kobe is mentally and physically tough as nails, Tmac is much less so. Yes, easy decision
some good points. TMac hasn't shown toughness? as shown, he's played as much as kobe. He goes through a close death every season. he goes through criticism more than kobe does i think, every season...i beg to differ on the not quite as tough mentally and physically as Kobe. I know Kobe has gone through his stuff, i mean besides the whole colorado thing, it's just his bickering and BS that he has to "deal" with, haha jk, i know he has a lot to prove too.
um last year in the mavs series....all the dallas radio ppl kept talking about was how Tmac was dominating and playing JUST LIKE jordan, they even had a guest on (i forgot who) who said "yes, he's like jordan, but with longer arms!!"
Because he didn't want to be on Team USA. With his health situation he owes it to the team that's paying him to be in the best shape possible and playing that kind of competitive ball in the summer wouldn't help.
What I want to know is, since T-Mac's injury/back problem is chronic, how come he is in so much more pain this season than anyother season before??? He was able to lead the league twice in scoring consecutively with the same back, what happened now? Was it his offseason workout routine? Was it his fall in the beginning of the season? What is it that makes this season so much more injury prone than last season. Oh and Kobe can copy MJ all he wants, T-Mac's got to do that chin brush thing he did after he hit the game winner in Dallas more often, I find that kind thing of cool. It makes him look like a snake or something that's just stricken his prey. Or warning his prey. Or something.
I remember the chin brush thing--one of the coolest signs i've seen. I seem to remember a photo of rip hamilton and jordan both doing the fist pump at the same time in their washington days--hamilton was like his little puppet-but you could argue that it was just a phase for rip. Onto the Kobe/Tmac debate. I think offensiveley they are both equal, both have shown the ability to score whenever they want. Defensively also equal, T-Mac's size allows him to defend players like Odom, Marion and Dirk if need be, but he doesn't crank the D up to 11 like Kobe does so it evens out. Both players have proven to be clutch in their careers-even. T-Mac's court vision and play making ability are superior to Kobe's. Kobe showed us something this series, but he forces it way too much and sacrafices his own offense almost completely, ditto when he makes it his objective to score--his teammates are left watching. T-Mac does everything in the flow of the offense, he can drop a no look dime in the blink of an eye, and he knows when to score. I think T-Mac is the better player, just hoping he can stay healthy to prove it.
DUDE SERIOUSLY!!! Have you any common sense; a mind of your own? Try to use it once in a while. People with back problems get worse with age, don’t need a friggin doctor to tell me that, I know too many people who have suffered from back problems. Also, keep in mind that T-Mac is a professional athlete, his body is his asset. The guy isn’t going to come out and say; “hey guys I’m suffering from back pain so I’m not going to be as productive”… He has too many endorsements (shoes, jerseys to sell) to make such a statement. The way he played this year was like a guy who is hurting…and it’s not like it was for a couple of weeks, the WHOLE year he played this way. I’m guessing the injury at the beginning of the year triggered his back problems which had already pre-existed. Now my argument is that this will linger for the rest of his career. This is just my perspective, so chill crums.
I think they're two different players who have different strengths. If you're asking me which one I would take TODAY, it would be Kobe, no doubt. Why? Very simple: he has more durability and is healthier. That's a big enough difference to me that gives Kobe (or Lebron, or AI, or Pierce) the edge over McGrady. But if you ask me which player I would pick over any other swingman in the league if I was assured that each one was 100% injury-free and in their respective primes? That would be far and away Lebron James, it ain't even close. However, second on that list would be T-Mac, and third I would take Kobe and then AI. IMO, the two players in the league that have a more similar game are Lebron and T-Mac, the only difference is that Lebron has a clear physical advantage over McGrady in that he's a unique speciman unlike any other in the league. So my answer would be neither if I had to pick one swingman to build my team around, it would be Lebron, VERY easy decision, IMO.
You mean like how he quit on his team the 2nd half against the Suns? It's been one of the more hotly-debated topics on talk radio and ESPN for a few days now, people are shocked that Kobe "quit" in that 2nd half to "send a message", they never associated 'quitting' with Kobe.
