I love it how people just say "you're an idiot". I guess the payola radio marketing machine has done it's job. Years later, people are still brainwashed into thinking that Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains produced good music when in reality they couldn't hold a candle to bands like Dokken & Manowar in terms of musical talent (ability to play, vocal ability, songwriting, etc) Musical opinion, tastes, and radio are so much better in Europe these days than over here.
LMFAO, yeah, Pearl Jam definately is involved in pay for play. The same band that sued ticketmaster because they didn't want them charging their fans $50 for a ticket.
How do you think songs like Jeremy, Even Flow, and Black got on the radio? It certainly wasn't because of their quality. Those songs are laughable. They would never get a second of airtime if the record company wasn't pushing them down our throats.
Well why don't you just go to Europe and stay the f!@# there!!!! You know if you didn't say so much STUPID sh*t maybe so many people on this board wouldn't think you were such an IDIOT!!!! Granted that you didn't bring the creed angle into the thread, but the fact that you couldn't just let it rest and say STUPID sh*t like PJ paid to get their songs on the radio!!! Well where's you're proof or are you just talking out of your ass again. And to say Alice in Chains was a terrible band. Dude, Milli Vanilli had more musical cred in their dreadlocks than you will EVER have!! EVER!!!!
That's coz they live in a 80's time warp. Big Hair bands and **** rock still rule in places like Bratislava, Slovakia and PlzeĆ, Czech Republic.
Darn it. I was looking forward to participating in a thread about Metal Mania on VH1. But the topic seems to have gone back to the same old Creed argument, which we've all seen before. Musical taste, remember, is subjective... there is no right or wrong, just agreement or disagreement... Have fun with your thread... these usually go on forever...
Almost all music in Europe is that horrible techno pop garbage like we were listening to in the 90's. Go check out billboard or any top music charts for Europe and you will see. If anything, the music is WORSE in Europe than it is here.
Actually, VH1 Classic is in the middle of "Metal Month" right now. Lots of great programming all month long. I love VH1 Classic.
The month ends with a "Rock Honors" salute to Kiss, Queen and Judas Preist. They have a huge ad for it in the newest Playboy. http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002313374 VH1 Rock Honors To Salute Kiss, Queen April 06, 2006, 5:40 PM ET Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. Kiss, Queen, Def Leppard and Judas Priest will be saluted at the first VH1 "Rock Honors," which will be taped May 25 at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay and broadcast six days later on the music channel. The show will feature performances by the four aforementioned acts and a host of other artists and presenters to be announced. Tickets go on sale April 22 via Ticketmaster. The rock honors complement VH1's annual "Hip-Hop Honors," the third edition of which will air in October. Having been off the road while guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley recovered from hip replacement surgery, Kiss is returning to live duty for four summer shows in Japan: July 18 in Nagoya, July 20 in Fukuoka, July 22 in Tokyo and the next night in Osaka. As previously reported, Def Leppard will on May 23 release a covers album, "Yeah!," and will tour this summer with Journey. Judas Priest is about to get moving on a new studio album, and the reconfigured version of Queen featuring Paul Rodgers is winding down a North American tour.
No argument from me. And Justice For All was Metallica in their prime IMO. And that video was pure Metallica. If I'm not mistaken, that was their first video.
VH1 did a top 40 greatest metal songs, I saw the list somewhere and it sucked; Korn, Marilyn Manson, System of a Down, and Slipknot had songs on it.
Well taste is subjective, but you can still debate what forms your opinions. Aces, on the otherhand, always claims that Pearl Jam and other early 90's bands get on the radio because their record companies pay for playtime. He has no proof of it and throws it out like fact everytime and says we are all mindless zombies following the corporate drumbeat. What's even more laughable is that he thinks it is still going on today, which shows a complete lack in logic. You pay to put your music on the air to sell records. Why would you try to push the sales of 10 to 15 year old records. It's not like there's a surpluss of CDs sitting in warehouses that need to be moved. BTW, I'd really like all the board members who are actually in bands to chime in on the musicianship of the both bands. Now, back on topic. Did you guys see that they are doing a Metal Super Group with Sebastian Bach on vocals, the Nuge on guitar, and I forgot who's in the rythm section.
"Supergroup" is rounded out by Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, Biohazzard bassist/Oz actor Evan Seinfeld and John Bonham's son, Jason, whose, uh, dad was in Led Zeppelin. Should be an interesting show. I wonder how it would even be possible to see Sebastian Bach everyday without going insane, let alone LIVE with the man.
I'm looking forward to it. It should be interesting to see how Nugent gets along with everyone else in the band. He has....well, control issues. I've heard stories about him fighting with the other members of Damn Yankees when he didn't get his way. Also, Jason Bonham had his own band a while back. I thought they were pretty good. Jason is a helluva rock drummer. I wonder where he gets it from... I wish VH1 would bring back Bands On The Run. That was a great show. All 4 bands blew chimps, but it still made for great TV.
