D. Craig, IMO, is the most gifted/talented ACTOR ever to be cast as 007. will that translate to a better Bond? i dunno.
All I know is I was a big fan of Timothy Dalton as Bond, and the shots of Daniel Craig in that teaser remind me a lot of his take on the character. Plus my favorite Bond flicks are the realistic ones like From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Licence to Kill, and For Her Thighs Only, and Casino Royale is supposed to be modeled after those movies rather than the ridiculously over-the-top Die Another Day.
Man, that shot of Craig at the end. U-G-L-Y. That teaser left me "meh." Go back and watch it without any sound, and it just doesn't look as good. The mere mention of the James Bond theme, which overlays the action in the teaser, adds more than you think it does. Based on previous Bonds, we've been conditioned to get pumped every time we hear that damn theme. You could add the James Bond theme to a video of two old women knitting, and people would think it was badass. But that doesn't mean it really is.
It doesn't look bad. He has to get a chance to surprise us. Then if he sucks we can still make fun of him.
Timothy Dalton was such an underrated Bond. I wasn't a big fan of Roger Moore cause his movies were always over-the-top. And Brosnan's movies became increasingly that way as well. I've maintained that Daniel Craig would be a good Bond, especially after watching Layer Cake. Plus I don't see people's problems with his "looks." He'll fit the style the movie is trying to achieve. Plus who better was out there (Hugh Jackman, Clive Owen... I don't think so) The trailer was ok but nothing special.
I had my doubts about this guy, but man, that trailer looks awesome. I think he's definitely going to be great as Bond now. Brosnan seemed to be kind of sleepwalking through his last couple of Bond movies. This new one looks a bit edgier. Can't wait.
I like the fact that they're going "year one" on Bond but keeping it in the modern day. A brand new Bond, just getting used to being a 00 agent in a modern world has potential IMHO. I wasn't sure about Craig, but I like the grittier, more realistic look of this film.

Agreed. While I don't particularly like Craig as Bond, I much prefer him to Moore or Brosnan. They were too damn pretty. Personally, I like James Bond as written in Ian Fleming's books. He is grittier. He's a hard-a$$, stone-cold killer. He downright cruel sometimes. And he's definitely NOT a pretty-boy. In fact, in the book Casino Royale, Bond is described as looking "like Hoagy Carmichael, except more cruel" and with a scar on his left cheek: If anyone wants to know what James Bond is supposed to look like, THAT'S it.
