I was just thinking about how hard Othella rode the pine during his first year. It was not until a season or so later that he got any minutes, and when he did, many of us were happy.
Kenny and Othella both play PF, but have completely different styles. Nonetheless, I Tthink Rudy and the scouts did good homework with this guy, and I believe their efforts will pay big dividends.
So what does everybody else think?

Actually, I think they are very similar players when you compare them in college. They are both skilled offensive power forwards with good hands and some good inside shots. They are abount the same size with Kenny beinng a little bigger and a little longer. They both had big question marks about their defense and their ability to disappear in games in college.

Othella was soft his first year and got in much better shape his second year. That's what made him a faster and stronger player. That also helped his defense a lot because he didn't get pushed around as much.

If Kenny works out as hard as Othella, then he could be even better because he is bigger and longer and still has good offensive skills. I was very impressed with his postup game and how smooth he moves around inside with the ball.

  3. Air...Sorry to disagree, but Othella was more of a Alonzo type untill Iverson came around and stole all the shots.

Kenny to me seemed more like a Robert Horry type with a few inside moves.

I agree with you, Air Francis, but the difference is that Othella has great work ethics, while Kenny Thomas does not.

I had a post about a month and half ago that KT was gonna be a 15/10 guy and now hopefully the rest of you will recognize.
You need to check into KT's work ethic before you question it, and I guarantee you he has loads of talent compared to Othella.
When did you ever see O behind the 3 point line and make a crucial 3 like Kenny did last night. This guy is just coming into his own. Wait one year and we will have our 4 spot solved.

Hey clutch it's been a while since I posted but it good to be back and I am excited about Monday.

I won't mind if Thomas' offense is similar to Othella's, but I sure hope his defense is better. Harrington was about as good a defender as Barkley, except without the veteran know-how.

    I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem.

    Guys,
Kenny and Charles are very different in their playing styles. Kenny has the ability to mix it up better than Charles; I just hope he and Thomas Hamilton don't hang out. Seriously, if Kenny Thomas gets minutes on the court and in the gym, he can be our power forward of the future-the same way Steve Francis has already secured a spot.
Is it just me or has Kenny Thomas shown incredible poise in his few minutes of action? THAT is a sign of prowess in the NBA. I say we ship Massenberg back to his momma, and let the rookie develop.
We are blessed in that we have a versatile line-up. Think about it:

    Dream: Center/PF capabities
    Cato: Center/PF
    Anderson: SG/SF
    Mobley: PG/SG
    Francis: PG/SG
    Drew: PG/SG
    Bullard: some SG/SF/PF
    Rogers: SF/PF

You guys can fill in the blanks...
My point with that is that we can afford to lose a power forward. Even if we trade Kenny Thomas later on, we know that if we develop Kenny we can get something for him later. Screw Massenberg. Let's package him with another player or two and maybe a pick and try to solidify the small forward position. Guys, Shandon is not a small forward-he's a two guard that needs to practice his jump shot. Right now, Mobley is the better SG, IMO. If Shandon starts at the two in the future, and we can resign Mobley, we've got a sixth-man quality combo guard.
I just went way off topic, but it all boils down to versatility-that will allow us to make moves without suffering in the interim. I say let's move on a small forward. Who's available? As a side note, I've heard about us re-signing Mack; and he can help. But ask yourselves if he's the cure. I seriously doubt that he's anything more than an anecdote.
Anyway, what do you guys think?
