I agree with you on Raef and Murphy. Don't see Cleveland ditching Donyell though. Both of those guys contracts are gross but it can't be any worse than dragging around Howard's deal for 4 mo years. I actually like Raef's game and his contract a little bit better than Murphy. He makes a couple mill more but the deal is over in 3 years, and he plays much better defense. Murphy's deal drags on for another 5 years I believe. Murphy is a better rebounder but overall defensively Raef is more intimidating and Raef is the better shooter, especially from 3 point range. Don't know what kind of deal we could put together though because of Raef's contract. Doesn't seem possible.
Thank you GATER. But jeez around 1/2 the MLE? Around 2.6 mil? Ouch. Damn, this team has so many needs. And one option is Lotto pick, Euro-rookie and a half a MLE guy with an LLE guy thrown in? I don't think I can defend that. If I believed for a second that we are going able to make a significant trade, then things would be different... But if not, screw it and rebuild. Pray for T-Mac's health and Yao's longevity, JVG's sanity and Les' humiliation threshold. Things look bleak.
I don't know which games you were watching. Every game that Mutombo played in he rebounded and defended as well as he ever had. Added to the fact that even if he retires, we will be over the cap, I say you keep him even if he only gives you 100 minutes over the entire season. That is one more big man and 6 more fouls on the roster.
Taking Raef Lafrentz would make a lot of sense, if we're willing to eat that contract. But what would it take? Would Doc Rivers welcome back Juwan Howard? The Celtics would save money in the long run, but not necessarily improve. Is Stromile OR Juwan + Luther + #32 + #39 + Moochie TE worth Lafrentz and Gerald Green (hometown: Houston [I think]?) If we split the MLE on Vasilus Spanoulis and, say, Darius Songaila, what would that lineup look like? 1. Rafer, Vasilus 2. Mardy Collins (#8 Draft Pick), Bogans 3. Tracy, Gerald Green 4. Raef, Juwan, Darius Songaila 5. Yao, Raef
JuHo for Raef saves C's @$12.5 mm. JuHo is a talent wash for them. So, to justify $$s GGreen for TE + #2. Is it doable? Morey probably knows.
Are you sure that even when he retires that his contracty counts against the cap? Just asking!I wATCHED 81 GAMES THIS LAST SEASON.
Man, that trade proposal is crazy. 1. You can't combine the TE with a player. 2. We don't have the #39. We traded it away.
i think we strongly needa look at RadMan [not BadMan] and V-Span. and i hope to God that we somehow end up with Roy/Carney. how far do you think we go with this lineup? how much do we improve? 1 - Rafer | V-Span | Sura | [JL3] 2 - #8 Draft Pick (Hopefully either Roy or Carney) / Lutha | DWes 3 - T-Mac | RyBoCop | #32 Pick (hopefully Novak or Gansey or some1 else) 4 - RadMan | Stro | Chucky | Juwan 5 - Yao | Deke yeah i know that's 16 players. i appended JL3 just in case Sura doesn't pan out.
i wanna say that i've heard he's lacking in defense, too. but he has the length, size, and range to be Padgett 2.0. btw - even though seemingly everyone knocks on Padgett's rebounding ability, Scotty the Body was pretty impressive in getting Offensive RBs every time i saw him get some playing time.
Radman is a big 3 IMO. He is a good shooter but he doesn't go inside much even though he seems to have the ability to score there as well. His main weakness is on defence. He will probably command a little more than the MLE but if he doesn't get more than that I would be satisfied to see him on the Rockets and move T-Mac to the 2 because we lack talent and don't have the resources to make a bigger move.
Deke would be good trade fodder for a team looking to cut salary (i.e. expiring contract). Could Sura be trade fodder too? Or does his contract have a guaranteed year for 2007-08? I've never heard a definitive answer on that one. If we have any thoughts of dealing with a team like the Clippers, we better be armed with trade exceptions or trade fodder (in addition to assets).
