If U.S. Attacks Iran, Iran Will Target Israel

TEHRAN, Iran - A top Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander said Tuesday that Israel would be Iran's first retaliatory target in response to any U.S. attack.

"We have announced that whenever America does make any mischief, the first place we target will be Israel," the Iranian Student News Agency quoted Gen. Mohammad Ebrahim Dehghani as saying.

Dehghani, a top commander of the elite Revolutionary Guards, also said Israel was not prepared to go war against Iran.

"We will definitely resist...U.S. B-52 (bombers)," Dehghani also was quoted as saying.

President Bush has said a military option remained on the table if Iran did not agree to international demands for it to stop enriching uranium. The American leader has said, however, that Washington wanted to solve the dispute over the Iranian nuclear program through diplomacy.

See, this is not good. We should have never started a public campaign with Iran. On cases like this, you keep the diplomacy quiet and play cards close to the vest. Now, if we compromise with Iran, all their nuts can say we backed down because Iran made a threat at Israel. All our nuts will say the same thing and argue that we cannot compromise because to do so would be giving in to threats. This continues to ratchet up until there is nothing left but war. (Or the 2006 elections occur and we go back to Iran and say "Never mind.")

Yeah, it's always our fault, and the fault of the Jews, too.

Are these people nuts, or what?? Are they just begging for a confrontation? I don't want the US to do anything, should that, heaven forbid, become necessary, until after the '08 elections. I wouldn't trust Junior to filet a fish, much less handle another conflict. Why the constant stream of incendiary rhetoric from Tehran?

I noticed that the Enterprise battle group left for the Middle East today, as part of a normal rotation. It will take some time to arrive, and then we'll find something out. If the battle group she is supposed to replace stays on station, instead of returning home, then that will give everyone more cause to worry.

Oh Iran... :) You're so flamboyant.

I will not worry about Israel being hit. China does not want to have its oil supplies disrupted.

This is not much different from Pat Robertson's call for assassination of Hugo Chavez or Lt. Gen. William Boykin's Judeo-Christian war with satan (in the Middle East).

Except Pat Robertson isn't a country's leader, nor does anyone think he's trying for nuclear weapons.

Other than that...it's exactly the same.

I guess all the Israeli and American threats to attack Iran don't mean anything

We should rename this part of Clutchfans to Debate & Discussion & Iran Bashing

Makes sense, not only would they target Israel, but probably the oil fields in their neighboring Arab states as well, that's what's holding back a U.S./Israeli attack, IMO.

first of all, why does the US even have to butt into this situation? why does israel get to be the only country in the mid east with nuke power?why does the US think that iran is a threat to THEM? theyre frekkin 15000 miles away.maybe we wont have that many palestinians dying every day now since iran will back up palestine against israel. if the US does go into war with iran, then the US will just have more n more of its soldiers dying, and the economy declining as well, and im sure a lot of you are sick n tired of that.

Should they not be bashed for threatening to attack Israel, if they are attacked?

If they are attacked their reaction should be directed at the attacker.

This worked perfectly with their trade partner N. Korea -- if you threaten us we attack S. Korea. Why **** with success?

That's why I said it makes sense on their part, they're trying to deter any possible US/Israeli attack on their country, so they threaten not only bombing every major oil field in the region, but also American ally Israel...they're stating the obvious, really.
