Last year we should have won more games than we did - the tank factor and some bad decision making cost us. Just one year earlier with mostly the same team we won 7. Last year, teams knew what Capers was going to throw at them, this year we have the element of suprise. I don't see winning eight as a stretch.
it just feels anti-climactic (did i spell that right?) so much build up for so long. and then the rug kinda gets pulled out.
That's my only complaint. Once Super Mario sacks McNabb for the first time on 9/10, I'll be over that.
The Texans still have a minor league very offensive line. They were counting on an over the hill former all pro center, and counting on Reggie Bush, to make the line better. Well, we still have the over the hill center, following several other over the hill, overpaid, offensive linemen, who the Terxans have signed over the years. The Packers did not resign Flannigan because he is old, injury prone, and not good enough. Lousy offensive line = same lousy offense. Watching the Texans play offense this year will be like seeing Roassne Barr in a bikini. Ugly. So ugly we will have to turn off the TV.
i suppose no team should ever win only 2 games. but i've posted before here the margin of defeat for the texans throughout the season. it wasn't close. they lost by double-digits more often than not. the first half of 2004, the texans played great. things looked good. they took a huge step back in the second half of that season, culminating in the browns loss. they didn't just all of a sudden become bad. that's why guys like Chance last offseason were saying, "this team won't win 5 games."
That Browns loss stings. Had we won that game, I think everyone's opinion of this team would be dramatically different. I think this team is capable of great things and our picks today will only improve that. 8 wins baby!
that one game was indicative of what was to come. looking back, i don't think it would matter. we ultimately went 2-14 the next season, anyway. i like your optimism. i just don't share it. i fear the "i told you so" is gonna be monumental.
I'm usually the optimist and preach patience. Mario to make more of an impact than both Vince and Reggie? I doubt you need to save much room on that bandwagon. 4 wins.
6 Then we draft another Travis Johnson and trade next year's #1 and 2 for Jason Babbin's twin brother..
Lots of RBOF in this thread. After what we have gone thru in the hands of YOF, I don't think I can take this Can you guys go root for the Saints for crying out loud?
I said 3 or less. Not because of VY or Reggie Bush or Mario Williams, but because of other factors. First of all you have a "rookie" head coach who brings with him a new staff and new playbook. Secondly, the Texans will have to go through the transformation to the 43. And lastly, the schedule at this point appears tough.
