In need of a little advice on a bizarre relationship debacle...

actually most of the time the girl has some HOT friends that you want to get in bed with, and that's why you gotta listen to the BLAH that comes with the package.

 

And yet sadly in so many cases, stuff like that is true. Sorry to shake your faith in men, but unfortunately that's just how the world works.

You might want to fire up the movie reviews again. Because all "rookies" are on probation until they prove themselves as being worthwhile contributors, and I always did like your movie reviews.

 

Of course men and women can be platonic friends. It's not like the sex issue can ever be completely put aside, but only a moron would refuse to be friends with an entire gender if they couldn't be intimate. I don't get all of these guys in this thread getting all freaked out because some girl didn't want to sleep with them, either. Look deep inside. Accept that maybe, just maybe you aren't as freaking wonderful and irresistible as your mama thinks you are. It doesn't mean that women are evil, or cruel, or anything else. It usually means you are boring, or insecure. It's a scientific fact that clingy, resentful dudes don't get laid.

 

Guys can be friends with a girl and not be interested in her like that. My life is living proof. I've got several guy friends - including some close individual friends - who seem to like me as a person and hang around with me a lot, but they don't want that. Maybe part of it's just our group culture (people with relatively little experience who don't have casual sex and never will), and a lot of it may be that these guys are a good bit younger than me and wouldn't be as likely to think of me in that way... but I think there's just something about me that makes me the ultimate Just Friends Girl. Not sure why.

I think they're comfortable with me because I'll hang out and talk with them, I don't do the flirting or playing with their mind thing, and I'm someone they can trust as a good friend. They keep wanting to have me around to come back to. They show some interest in other girls, though. By now I'm almost determined that I'm destined to be Just Friends with everyone and might as well get used to it, that if I quit wanting a relationship with someone, eventually... that if I quit wishing I had more of a guy's attention or being jealous of any other girl who gets it... then I'll be alone, but at least I will have accepted the way it's going to be.

(and you don't think you can have the hanging out alone together, talking every night, weekends together, whatever as friends? Yes you can. Even if they're not gay.)

Here's the deal. The mass majority of guys are looking to get laid and it skews their thinking, but once they have it in a serious girlfriend or wife, then the pressure of sex is relieved somewhat which allows them to be friends with women on a normal basis. If they ever become single again, then all bets are off. Another exeption for most men but not as universal is if the woman is engaged or married, then we know we can't get laid so the sex thing doesn't skew things as much.

 

As I got older I quit trying to be so "friendly" with girls and it turns out more were interested in me then. I probably was too clingy in college, thinking they wanted someone with feelings. Women aren't evil, its just the hormones they carry around that are evil. I also found as I got older that I got along better with women that grew up someplace other then Texas. I personally just socially function better outside of Texas culture, which is why I married a non-Texan and which is why I moved out of the state.

Oh by the way, I don't just resent women. I resent both genders. My wife calls me an anti-social person. Why she married me, I'll never know.

That said, it is far more likely in most situations that the more attractive of the pairing thinks of the other as just a friend, while the less attractive of the two thinks differently.

I'm not freaking out because a girl didn't want to sleep with me. I'm just pointing out certain truths. Finalsbound was attracted. Guy acted un-masculine. Finalsbound un-attracted.

Simple.

 

At least finalsbound is hot. We all know that, right?
