Who didn't get picked that you'd like to see in Houston? I'd give these a shot: SF Casey Calvary / Gonzaga PF Brandon Wolfram / UTEP Calvin Bowman / WV C Popodopoulous / Greece Kimani Ffriend / Nebraska ------------------ "How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak. I'd love to give Casey Calvary shot. He'll be a great 12th man in this league. ------------------ President of the Eddie Griffin fan club.

Kenny Gregory from Kansas is a 6'5 athlete who is a SF/SG. We have no use for him but I think he will catch on with some NBA team. Great athlete, just the 6'5 size is too small for a SF and not a great outside shooter.
kaspars kambala is one scary looking dude. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
How about Maurice Evans from UT I think he'd be a nice backup SG behind Mobley Kimani Ffriend from Nebraska is still out there, too. ------------------
Gregory shoots like Gerald Wallace, and is although Kenny is a good athlete, he is nowhere near the athlete Gerald Wallace is. Plus, Gerald's upside is a lot larger than Kenny's, so he is like a really poor man's Gerald Wallace. I don't think Kenny will make it in this league. Charlie Bell is another decent undrafted rookie. ------------------ "I look kind of dumpy. Look at my butt. And what kind of shoes do they have me wearing? Savaliant Brown might be the best undrafted player ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, Charles Woodson, and Eddie Griffin fan club.
Calvin Bowman played at the same Junior College near Houston as Francis. I saw Bowman play in person many times, and I have to say that he is a good player, with solid coordination for a big man, but he is thin (or was when I saw him), and he seemed to lack passion. I know he has solid fundamentals because he played for Scott Gernander at San Jac, and Scott demands no less. But I would be surprised if he could survive as a PF (even backup) in the NBA, despite the fact that I would love to see him there. ------------------ I would rather have Mo Taylor and his love of the Rockets than Webber and his love of our money. The Rockets worked out: Ben Eze L. Papadopoulas Lee Scruggs Kimani Ffriend They should have some idea about their potential. I think other good possibilities are Tarvis Williams, Tony Key and Brandon Wolfram. ------------------
LilStevie- At the draft combine Gregory had the highest vertical (don't remeber the exact #). I know that isn't the whole story but a verytical is usually a good indication of athleticism, and yeah he will need some work on his jumper.
What did happen to Rashard Phillips of Detroit he was projected a late first-early second round selection by several draft experts. ------------------ Go Rockets Go!
Today's Houston Chronicle said Rockets were going to pursue "own free agents" rather than outside free agents. FREDTERP ------------------
I also like that Mardesich fellow from MD, although I didn't know he was a Senior. ------------------ "How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak. Because someday you will have been all of these."
I think Rashad Phillips would be a nice fit here in Houston. He's got the size and heart of Moochie. They would be good coming off the bench together. The white boy Casey Calvary has got crazy ups and could transition into a small forward that could come in and post up smaller SF's. I like him a lot even though he probably isn't really an NBA player. ------------------ President of the Eddie Griffin fan club.
Kenny Gregory actually learned to shoot the ball this year -- 38.6 percent from three-point land. Too bad he shot about the same percentage from the FT line: 42.4 percent. He has a slow release that he got away with because he can jump over most college 2's and 3's. His bigger problem is his foot speed. A slasher with a poor first-step isn't worth a lot when he's not on the break. I like the guy, but I don't think he'll wind up on a roster. ------------------ KanHoop "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?" -- George W. Bush, Florence, S.C., January 11, 2000
4chuckie, no way Kenny has a higher vertical than Wallace, who has a 49 inch vertical. Jason Richardson has a 46 inch vertical, I read that in a magazine somewhere. Jeff T. has a 45 inch vert and I don't know what RJeff has, but my guess is in the mid 40's. I don't know where Kenny goes, but I doubt that he has a 50 inch vert or higher. If he does, the guy is a FREAK!! ------------------ "I look kind of dumpy. Look at my butt. And what kind of shoes do they have me wearing? Oh Please! You just want to hear some anouncer say "here comes the Calvary" during a game ------------------
