I am sorry, but "taping" ankles doesn't prevent them from rolling (I don't even know if they all do that).

This is the single most common injury for a basketball player. Taping is about as beneficial as football players putting that black stuff under their eyes. High-tops are also useless. It's a gimmick by the shoe companies to make money.

I play and have rolled each ankle before, that is until I found out about Active Ankle. Most braces suck but these are awesome and comfortable. I have had my ankle rolled completely over and was able to keep playing and had minimal soreness the next day.

These guys are professionals and they need to have to best equipment that will decrease injury and recovery time.

Come on Keith Jones, get with the program!

Taping does prevent ankle sprains. Just not the more serious ones, because nothing can prevent those. If you do not allow the ankle to give, then what's left? That's right the KNEE. And believe me, a multiple ankle injury sufferer and one time knee injury sufferer, that ankles ain't sh*t when it comes to injuries.

If taping doens't help, then why do the NFL, NBA, and MLB all do it? Are all those trainers stupid?

Taping and braces do three things:
1.) They provide some support and help prevent some minor ankle sprains.
2.) In the event of a sprain, taping and braces will lessen the effect of the injury.
3.) Both taping and braces give the players confidence, especially in previoulsy injured ankles.

There have been numerous studies that indicate restricting movement in any way actually INCREASES the occurence of injuries to joints. When I played football I never had problems until trainers forced me to be taped and braced. At first, it was great to not have those mild sprains and twists, until the braces and tapes eventually weakened my joints until finally I turned down 3 scholarships because of torn ACL's in both knees.

    Let me clarify please.

ActiveAnkle braces do not prevent you from rolling your ankle. Like you mentioned, that is normal and natural. However, they do prevent you from shredding your ankle which I think everyone would agree is beneficial.

Most ankles injuries come from stepping on someone elses foot. I came down with a board and had my entire body wait on my rolled ankle. It scared me, because I thought I was toast, but these braces stop the ankle from rolling too far! Just before the point of serious damage. I can keep playing and have mild soreness the next day. Before I was out for a week.

Check out the web page. www.activeankle.com

Numerous professional and college teams use them for their players. Football, basketball, volleyball, soccer. They are the bomb, and they work (without tearing up knees).

    Peace.

    WildBill,

Wearing braces or tape during games and practice shouldn't have weakened you joints to the point of atrophy. If you maintain a steady workout to keep the strength in you muscles and joints the limited time you wear braces and tape is so insignificant that to say they are the reason for weak joints is incorrect.
