AElliott: I think your overall comments are as salient as any on the board regarding players the Rox might have an interest in. However, it seems to me that many of the same arguments you are making against Diop would apply to Hunter as well who has a terrible shot and who has been described as having "zero post game." Are you saying he's worth the risk at 18? Or are you saying the same things that are being said about Diop (ie- that he can be taught offense)? ------------------
hahaha haven good points and you're right. that's too bad you don't like my sarcasm lol i'm just messing around. i find it amusing to take any point of an argument and go with it whether i agree with it or not hahaha it's good fun. oh, but about the question how long has it been since an oak hill center went top 10? hahahahhahaa. nice. let's see, how long has it been since 99% of the high school teams have had a center go top 10. lol. there are no high school teams that spin these bad boys out...the diesel came from some school in san antonio, and patrick ewing came from some latin school in new york. point being that's messed up you could say how many dominguez, thornwood, or glynn academy big man have gone top 10 and you would get the same answer. Don't take aelliot out of context, and don't distort lol who are you to tell me what to do? when you are on a side as tough as this, sometimes you have to take out of context hahaha That's getting a bit redundant. And unfortunately, your sarcasm isn't even amusing. actually i thought his italicizing certain parts of people's posts so as to highlight something that made more since with the other stuff around and then attempting to pick the entire post apart kind of redundant...hahaha and my sarcasm isn't even amusing? sure, it wasn't some of my best work but i found it amusing and since i have a great since of humor according to many i think i'll keep laughing. from what i see of you, you are a monochronistic drone who takes things too seriously lol but hey, who am i too judge... Extending your argument to the NBA... Tyrone Lue must be better than AI, since his team won the championship. lol man i have no idea where you got that one, but i'm sure you will clarify. hey while i'm at it, i'll take the hard side again...(even though i despise lue for locking down my boy ai in the finals lol) what do you mean better? do you mean better when no one is guarding him? do you mean better one on one player? because in the finals lue locked down iverson, and his team won in part because of that. he's obviously the better team player and i say he played a large part in their victory because in game 1 iverson poured in 40+ and they won...but when lue got in the mix iverson's scoring (which was pretty much philly's only hope) went down and so did their chances to win. lol i'm not even convincing myself lue is better, but it doesn't hurt to try, right? hahaha Chandler's game is more refined. Face it. whoa there, going out on a limb, eh? kind of like saying mj was a good player...lol plus i said in the post you were referring to that diop wasn't as good offensively as chandler. but hey, he's a beast. you think shaq can pop j's/3's? haha looks like he throws up a dirty jump hook and dunks on people. and misses free throws. diop is his size, but ten years younger...with a passion for the game not seen in chandler. he wants to get better offensively and will make an effort, as said in dr of dunk's quote. chandler has been on 60 minutes before high school, plenty of time to practice his offensive game. diop was in africa killing lions or something lol who are some of these players? how about 16 mcdonald's all americans, the most of any school, and something like double the next closest Why draft a defender in the top 10? Doesn't make sense. then your question about not drafting on defense alone. hey you gotta run with me i'm not going one way or the other i'm just having fun trying to think of things that would go with my path. wasn't dikembe drafted 4th overall? he definately has no offensive game, in fact it's quite painful watching him try to do anything other than his jump hook. they drafted him for defense, rebounding, and shot blocking...which is what diop has. and do you think hakeem olajuwon had a more refined offensive game coming out of high school or africa when he was high school age? i really don't know, but i doubt it. diop could be closer to hakeem, or closer to cato. but with his kind of athleticism and will i'm banking on the former. Italics/bold/quotes are useful for clarity. If your arguments suck and are without merit, I suppose clarity works to your detriment. hahaha oh we have a fiesty one here. actually i like that one. saying my arguments suck (hey, they probably do but i dun care) and then saying that something i was mocking could help others but hurt me if i'm saying dumb things because they can see it easier. very nice (not sarcastic, i can appreciate a nice diss when i see one) dang, now that i think about it i have two people going against me personally. lol now that's what i like to see. eventually someone will come up with the brilliant idea that hey, this is just a kid and his arguments are without merit so how about we ignore him. hahaha good fun ------------------

Are you saying he's worth the risk at 18? Or are you saying the same things that are being said about Diop (ie- that he can be taught offense)? It's simply a matter of return on investment. It's one thing to take a chance on Hunter at 18, but it's another to trade #13 and #18 in order to take a chance on Diop. We've got to come away from this draft with some help. If we bank everything on Diop and he washes out, then we'll be dead. If it was a matter of Diop at #18 or even #13, then you could make an argument for doing it. But, having to trade up with multiple picks is just too much of a risk. ------------------
I don't know about Radman or Diop, but I do agree that another soft guy on the front line is the last thing we need. That is why we did not make the playoffs last year, was rebounding and inside D. If we don't get someone who can do that this offseason we will be right back here again next year. That is why I say trade up for Curry if we can, or draft DIOP or Randolph ------------------
If you are as big as Diop and only score about 12 points a game against high school competition, then you have NO offensive game. He should stumble upon those 12 points by accident with his size. ------------------ PrEsident of The Danforth Langhford FAN CLUB... He IS our future All-Star Small Forward
If we're looking for a center, we should just stay put. I doubt we could get high enough to draft Curry, and aelliot's right: Diop is NOT worth trading up for. We can get more of a sure thing at the #13 spot (either Woods or Haywood should still be around, Stephen Hunter definitely will). That being said, I still think we should trade up to avoid having three rookies + two second year players (who are also essentially rookies) on the roster next year. ------------------
I could not agree more with your first paragraph. However instead of just trading to move up how about trading the 18 or 23 pick for a second rounder and a conditional first in another year. Second rounders are not givin garunteed contracts. This would give us a chance to have a draft that looks something like this: 13 Woods - garunteed contract 23 Morris - garunteed contract 2nd rounder - Ousman Cisse - No garuntee. either you have some real tallent and stick or you don't and we have lost nothing. Future 1st Another possible scenario: 13 VRad - guarunteed 18 Woods - guranteed 2nd Ken Johnson - no garunteed Future 1st or 2nd ------------------
diop is much better of a project than radman if you ask me. if they are both there at 13 no doubt who we should draft. if getting diop means trading 13 & 18 then i don't know. i'd toss a coin simply because there is a chance radman will bust too, but i doubt it. i still like jefferson at 13 and that is still who we'll probably get considering they'll both be gone at that pick! ------------------
i still consider woods and haywood to be low impact players in the nba. might as well get hunter or dalemburt to play C. ------------------
Quote from CD: "We want to (move up in the draft) and we're getting a million calls from people wanting our 23rd and 18th picks." Who is he talking about here? I have no idea what we could get for those picks, but if it means keeping #13 and getting another pick close to it, I'm all for it! That could mean scoring JJ and Loren Woods/Brendan Haywood. Granted, the "Wood" boys aren't the greatest thing since Cecil's Pub got new tables outside, BUT I think they are a notch or two better than the competition. I would put them in the rotation ahead of Collier. However, if Diop slips to where it's a choice between the 3 of them, I'd say take Diop. It's a good risk. ------------------
Andy Katz is reporting the Nets are strongly considering taking Vladimir Radmanovic at No. 7, "regardless of who else is on the board". ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Do you think Radmanovic is a smoke screen for alot of teams? It seems ever since word got out about his workout here ,and in other places ,that every team, 7-13, has been linked to him. Then again, maybe New Jersey was the team that guaranteed they'd pick him. ------------------ The Smurfs were Communists
Tell the nets to stay away from Radmanovic unless they are drafting for us. I really think Radman is the guy Rudy wants He can defend, shoot, run the break, and he can swing from the 3 to 4. He is 6'-10" and strong. ------------------
