http://nbadraftreport.alliancesports.com/content.asp?CID=28120 "Houston is talking of making moves to get the 18 and 23 to move up and trade with Orlando for the 15 and 32." I think that this would be a very good trade for the Rockets. At 15, the Rockets could take Loren Woods, and with the 32 they can hopefully take a guy like Cisse or maybe even Terrance Morris if he slips past the Spurs. ------------------
That sounds like a deal that the Rockets would do. If Orlando is looking to pick up extra first round choices, then maybe it means that they really are going to start dumping players in order to get cap space for a FA. In that case, they'd need to add some bodies quickly. ------------------
Actually I think there might be something to this. I just heard this exact rumor on the phone 30 minutes ago from the doctor (who didn't get it from here), but he wasn't sure how valid it was. So I really don't know. If it is accurate or does happen, I'd be happy with that move (barring a trade to move straight up). Actually the Rockets could probably package those two (13 and 15) to move up to 8 or 9 ... but picking at 13 and 15 would give the Rockets two good players and not have to worry about a third guaranteed contract. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Here is a possible trade I hear about , but think it may be too much too soon. Glen Rice, Luc Longley, Othella Harrington, and Kurt Thomas for Antoine Walker and Jerome Moiso, and the seven pick. I don't think this would work at all, but I heard it and thought it was interested, especially since someone else told me #7, Pierce, and Walker for Rice, Sprewell, Larry Johnson, and Longley. I don't personally think any of this will happen, but looks interesting. I can flat out guarantee neither of these go down!!! Heck Larry Johnson is talking about retiring because of his back. ------------------ "For there is nothing either good or bad, thinking makes it so." - William Shakespeare (1564-1616), Hamlet
That would be an excellent move, in reducing a guaranteed contract, and picking up an early 2nd rounder, that could very well turn into a guy like Cisse or K. Johnson. Sounds very plausible, too. Clutch-I take it moving to #6, as the front page subtly hints, isn't happening anymore. ------------------ "I think alot of people find Cato's game to be very offensive." -aelliott, comparing the offensive skills of Kelvin Cato and Michael Olowokandi
Shoot... sorry if that looked like a hint -- it really was just an example. There were talks of the 6th pick of course before the 18th pick deal with ORL-DET, but I haven't heard anything in that regard lately. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
That trade would work out great. We then could get Woods/Jefferson, or Woods/Radman, or Johnson/Woods(my personal fav). In round 2, we could go with either TRock or Johnson and make them earn their contract. I'm not worried about the Spurs taking Morris b/c I think they will look for more atleticism like Wallace or someone. ------------------ Who needs teachers? I can learn my own self. DieHard Mock Time
Excellent trade for us. Those available at 23 aren't who we'd want for a third pick. Morris, Johnson or Cisse should all be available at 32. ------------------ the more I know, the more I know I don't know...
I also really like it -- with the 2nd rounder, we can pick up a potential player (Ousmane Cisse!) and maybe pull a Marc Jackson, sending him to Europe for a year or two to learn, then coming back to be a solid contributor. ------------------ CC.net's most courteous driver Oh yeah, and I'm looking for a job right now, so hire me please
The Magic don't sound like a team willing to take on two first rounders for one -- they actually sound like they're in the same boat as Houston (desperately trying to move up). Magic try to make big waves ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Heh, Clutch, it really was quite intriguing, combined with the pick "between 5th-7th" on the poll. One possible rationale for the Magic is that an extra first rounder at the cost of moving down 3 slots would provide even more ammo for a sign and trade. Off the top of my head, 15 vs. 18+23 will have less than a 1 mill difference, so I can't see that being too big of a factor. 18 more hours.... ------------------ "I think alot of people find Cato's game to be very offensive." -aelliott, comparing the offensive skills of Kelvin Cato and Michael Olowokandi
I think it would benefit both teams. Orlando may be using those picks in order to trade up. The Rockets have too many 1st rounders and need to move down and can still get the players they need and want. #13 - Radman/Brown/J.Johnson/Jefferson (SF) #15 - Haywood/Woods/Collins (C) #32 - Cisse (PF) ------------------
That does seem very plausible. As of right now, I would think that Detroit is our best bet to move up. New Jersey's going to have Richardson or Diop drop to them, and I don't think they can pass on either of those players. Cleveland won't be trading anytime soon. I haven't heard their name mentioned in any trade rumors. I'd say put your money on Detroit for the team we're most likely to trade with. Also, if any trades go down tommorow, don't expect them to happen until after the first round is completed. At least that's what I'm hearing..... ------------------ The Smurfs were Communists
Clutch, have you heard any more from Doc on this? I think that this would be a good move for the Rockets. Johnson, Woods, and Cisse?!? ------------------
I love this trade- gets us only 2 1st rd picks gets us a high 2nd rd in a deep draft how about jefferson and haywood and cisse shoot I'd even chance tmo in the 2nd ------------------
I think a 13 and 15 package would be a more tempting offer to try to trade up with than any 13, 18, 23 combo. ------------------
