personally i think it's vah-sil-iz spawn-ooo-liz. what do you think?

i guess the more important question is...

... have you seen a guy with so many s's in his name? also, can you imagine having a lisp and trying to pronounce his name? that would suck. :(

I think you got it pretty much right.

I might break it down like this myself...

    Vuh-SILL-iss Span-OOH-liss

    Stress the capitalized chunks.

    It's not that difficult.

    vah-SEE-lees spah-NOO-lees

Most Greek names have English language counterparts (like Yannis=John, Dimitris=James). Vassilis is "BASIL", but I doubt you'll ever hear anyone use that.

Also, in Greece there are a few choice words you hear at games, particularly when someone screws up. I'm sure those will find their way onto this board if we bring him over next season.

    ok?
has become a nickname thread now...

i think his nickname should be "unicorn" because he emits a glittering ray of sunshine on a lost season and the horn represents how high spanoulis can take this team.

Either that, or when he goes in the game you are about to get poked where the sun doesn't shine.
