That may be a strong indication that: 1. MJ is coming back 2. CB4 is not coming back, or is not in good enough shape yet. Brand is a very nice player which would help the Wizards, and Chicago would have #1 & #4 and it would alleviate their problem of having 2 PFs. It's interesting. Thanks for the scoop!
The Chicago Sun-Times however writes: The Bulls nearly shifted the balance of today's NBA draft by trading Elton Brand to the Washington Wizards for the No. 1 pick, a league source said, but the deal fell apart late Monday. The Bulls would have had the first and fourth picks of the draft, and it's believed Jerry Krause would have chosen Georgia high school phenom Kwame Brown with the top pick while hoping Thornwood High School's Eddy Curry still would be on the board for the fourth pick. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
That's the last thing Chicago needs - 2 more (very) young players who won't be ready to contribute for several seasons. What they need are some veterans to teach those kids how to win. The funny part to me is the thought of Jordan and Krause getting together at the negotiation table. The deal fell through - go figure. ------------------ I'm so amazingly cool you could keep a side of meat in me for a month. I am so hip that I have difficulty seeing over my pelvis.
I'm not sure that getting a lot of young players at once IS a bad idea. Give them a couple of years to learn the ropes and then make some FA acquisitions to show them how to win (ie grizzled ol veterans). I think the Clippers will soon be the new model in the NBA (did I just say that). Orlando started it by turning their whole roster over quickly for young guys and picks. MLB and NFL teams follow this path and it makes sense. Otherwise your team may be mired in mediocrity for years with middle round picks and questionable combinations. If Chicago gets two top five picks to go along with Mercer (still young), Crawford, and Fitzer...they could be very good in a couple of years. ------------------
