bush's approval rating was really high when the dixie chicks caused all that trouble for themselves. bush's blunders have made him ripe for the picking.

Politics aside I'm looking forward to this album. I'm a big fan of Neil Young's grunge stuff and am glad to see he's doing this again.

As for the political impact of it I'm not sure that stars making political statements have that much impact anymore. For instance all of the stars who supported Kerry couldn't get him over the top and in some ways may have even hurt his campaign.

I doubt it, unless that big hootered chick from Black Eyed Peas who pisses on herself did a little background "vocals" on it! :D

this isn't going to be like a mike jones or paul wall album.
or even michael mcdonald and paul simon.

even old backstreet boys albums will outsell it.

i dont care about the political message - the real question is is it a good album? im not going to go out and downlo...i mean purchase the album if its no good or simply because its anti-bush.

im a big neil young fan and i thought his album w/ crazy horse from a couple years ago, greendale was his best in 25 years or so. this new one sounds like its the same vibe, so i cant wait to hear.

ill never understand the mentality that says "i disagree politically with this artist so therefore i hate their music." the dixie chicks are a good example. did all those millions of soccer moms buy their albums because they thought the dixie chicks thought like them or did they buy them because they enjoyed their music. or when ani difranco married a dude her lesbian fan base turned on her. i know a few who went from being huge fans to not listening anymore simply b/c she married a guy. they obviously only liked her music because they thought she was a lesbo and thats just dumb.

Well that shows the meaning of sales in relation to the quality of music. It has really doesn't have much to do with it. But I'm sure The Backstreet Boys are glad they still have hardcore fans like you.

I totally agree. That's like saying that you have to be a Satanist if you like Black Sabbath.

Art should be appreciated on many levels so while I'm not a Christian its not like I can't appreciate Bach or Mahalia Jackson and I'm not a Hindu but that doesn' mean I can't admire Angkor Wat.

Agreed. When Neil rocks, he rocks.

In the pantheon of artists who have left an indelible print on rock and politics, Neil is one of the few who is still relevant...and alive.

speaking of protesters...okay, maybe stoners... ;)

Actor and comedian Tommy Chong entertained more than 500 National Organization for the Reform of mar1juana Laws conference-goers Friday.

    ---

    He talked about politics, too.

”I know Dick Cheney's Secret Service guys smoke pot,” Chong said. “The reason I know that is I sold them bongs.”

He insinuated that President Bush was on methamphetamines.

”The dangerous thing about tweakers is they can take things apart but they can't put them back together again,”... “That's what George Bush has done to this country.”

    so true...

Young to offer Living With War for download starting tomorrow.

Legendary rocker NEIL YOUNG's upcoming protest album LIVING WITH WAR will be made available to download online from Friday (28APR06), ahead of its as-yet-confirmed official release date. The 60-year-old is allowing fans to visit his website and download the controversial 10-track LP, which he recorded in just three days, in its entirety. On 2 May (06), Living With War - which criticises the war in Iraq and includes a track attacking US President GEORGE W BUSH called IMPEACH THE PRESIDENT - will be released commercially as a digital download before record bosses hope to get it in stores sometime between 5 and 15 May.

Did you guys see that clip of Neil Cavuto talking to some canadian guy pointing out that Neil Young was born in Canada and saying how would canadians like it if an american criticized Canada. The guy just laughs it off and says people are always making fun of Canada, they're used to it. Of course, the most obvious bs about the whole thing is that Cavuto is still doing the criticizing Bush means you criticize America. What an *******.

This statement is so much crap. tinman, you embarrass yourself. True, many from the era (and it's not 1964, you are 2 years too early) should have quit a long time ago, but Neil is not one of them. I've been going to his concerts since he was with Buffalo Springfield, and saw them in '67. (they broke up in the Spring of '68) Neil hasn't lost a thing, and Tom Petty would fall over in disbelief if he read your post, and call you an idiot while picking himself up.

Can't wait to buy the album. I hope it's successful.

who sould more albums? tom petty or neil young?
besides 'Rockin in the Free World', what song would the casual music fan know from this guy?

sure this album might sell more than the Michael Jackson comeback album, but other than that, hip hop will rule the charts.

you might think he sounds like an angel, but i think he sounds like a washed up old man like McCartney and Jagger... except most people know who McCartney and Jagger are.

    Like a Hurricane???

Maybe I was wrong about Neil Young, that was a good song:

    It's early morning
    The sun comes out
    Last night was shaking
    And pretty loud
    My cat is purring
    And scratches my skin
    So what is wrong
    With another sin
    The b**** is hungry
    She needs to tell
    So give her inches
    And feed her well
    More days to come
    New places to go
    I've got to leave
    It's time for a show

Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane

    My body is burning
    It starts to shout
    Desire is coming
    It breaks out loud
    Lust is in cages
    Till storm breaks loose
    Just have to make it
    With someone I choose
    The night is calling
    I have to go
    The wolf is hungry
    He runs to show
    He's licking his lips
    He's ready to win
    On the hunt tonight
    For love at first sting

Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
