Im trying to forget this season and think some about next season. With some good moves and possibly no injuries next year does anyone think a vast improvement on a 60 win scale is possible? I think a lot of people forget how good Tmac can be, and couple that with yao ming's 2nd half season play. and i think you might see a turnaround next year that will take dallas and san antonio by storm.
Yes, If Tmac and Yao are healthy all year, and we get some people who can shoot around them, and a PF who can rebound and block shots (maybe Swift?) DD
yes, if we get our holes filled... no, if we only have tracy and yao like this season, even though we're going to get 50 something wins.
At this point, 82 games remain in the season. We have a shot at winning 82 games as of today. Whether we do or not, is up to the team. In reality, we should be able to win a lot if our superstars are healthy.
Sorry Guys!! You are jumping the gun! It's going to take two off seasons to get the rocks team a roster that can win championships and besides that you are forgetting that the NEW team will need to develop chemistry.Beside all of the above the future of Tracy McGrady is unknown or at least uncertain.
If T-Mac and Yao can stay healthy, its a possiblity. If one of them, especially T-Mac, gets hurt we might be in for a repeat of this past season.
It's "possible" I guess, but I guess it's also possible it could start raining chocolate and leprechauns tomorrow. You never know. Personally, I'd say not happening. We have way too many holes to fill, too many injury questions (can T-Mac play 82 next year?) and there are too many good teams in the league, particularly in the division -- two of the league's three 60-win clubs are in our division. If we have an out-of-this-world offseason and plug in key rotation pieces, I'd say we could maybe duplicate our 2004-05 season of 51 wins ... maybe 54 like Phoenix this season. But that is likely stretching it.
next season, it's going to be great... and I am not talking about 60 wins, I am talkin 70+ to break MJ's record... no seriously, I really believe that it's going to be a great season next season and we will probably finish 4th in the West (yes, ahead of mavs)..
If both are healthy throughout the season, watch it. 60 wins will look easy and the Rockets will be one of the top 4 in the league.
60 wins are possible. The Rockets did win 2 out of every 3 games where Yao and T-Mac suited up this year, and that would equal around 55 wins prorated over an entire season. An extra 5 victories is certainly doable if they add a decent 2-guard and a solid 4 who can compliment Yao. Do I think it'll happen? No way. T-Mac's back seems too fragile to count on him playing more than 65-70 games next season. And as great as Yao was post-All-Star break, he still hasn't show he can consistently carry a team on his own(although it's not his fault he was surrounded by NBDL-quality talent). Plus I still don't trust Van Gundy and CD when it comes to acquiring players. CD's drafting record has been mediocre at best(Yao doesn't count since he was a no-brainer). And Van Gundy is so obsessed with guys who can play D that he completely overlooks the fact that most of his acquisitions are terrible on the offensive end.
It's possible if yao & T-Mac are healthy. If we strike gold in the draft, get some quality gunners via free agency, if Stro improves( I'm positive ), Bogan's finding some accuracy in his shooting, Head improves, getting a QUALITY point guard, & to get rid of Rybo once & for all!
Its possible but the rockets have to improve their home court record...they play great on the road (especially T-mac) if they could only do that at home then anything is possible.
