and the controlling influence his guardian has played in his life. Just not having to deal with his guardian is reason enough for an NBA team not to pick him in the first round. From Mali to NBA, high school star making the jump ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
This guy could be the steal of the draft. His guardian appears to be a great plus. ------------------
Clutch - Your sentence has a double negative which is confusing me. Are you seeing Cisse's guardian as a positive influence or an overbearing nuisance? ------------------ GATER
From everything I've heard, his guardian is a pain to deal with. I have a feeling that if he didn't have a guardian, he'd be going earlier in the first round than where he may end up (mid 2nd round). ------------------ CC.net's most courteous driver Oh yeah, and I'm looking for a job right now, so hire me please
To me, this guardian might not be so bad now. If he really keeps Cisse out of trouble, see DeShawn, thats fine to me. Because of the rookie pay scale, there isn't reallly much to bargin over. SO after five years, hopefully we have built a relationship with him and won't get screwed. This is still 5 years away. If we could get him at 23 or in the second, I would take it. ------------------ "Chucky who? I thought we were talking about basketball?" Charles Barkley
Cisse is not worth a 1st rounder. There's just too many questions regarding him, in addition to the fact that there are tons of talented players in this draft who deserve to be ahead of him. The bottom of the 1st round and top of the 2nd will be loaded with good players, IMO. ------------------
this guy is a punisher...maybe he won't be a hit right off, but who is? anyone coming into the nba has a 2 or 3 year period whether it's from high school or four years college. he's a high school all american and would be going to duke, highly touted just like other college stars who most people will be great nba people...such as shane battier, chris duhon, mike dunleavy jr, jason williams, etc if not for his poor family back in mali hahaha ok i can't even play that off he wants the money and fame but that plays a factor. let's face it, if jason williams would have came out after hs (ok bad analogy he's a guard and not a big one like kobe) teams would have looked at him, because he was one of the top 5 hs players just as cisse is but most teams want help now even if that means overlooking a young player who is ranked top of his class. but i mean let's say someone takes kurt haston or whatever over cisse. i say hahaha you guys just screwed up. sure haston might be better right now, but he's not going to be doing anything that important in the nba, i don't even know if he will be an nba starter or not. i'd rather get a top 5 hs player, because todays stars were just that, for the most part. heck, almost the entire lottery was that, j rich, eddie griffin, battier, etc. those are the guys who will eventually become the good players in then nba although there are exceptions of course (rodney white, etc.) and to make cisse even more appealing, i read around here some article saying he bench presses 370. what a manimal. some might say oh yeah lots of people can get that. but i point out how strong you have to be to lift that kind of weight with the wingspan he has (7 foot something on his 6'7, 6'8 frame) i hope someone drafts him in the first round, because second round seems to be a death wish...no guaranteed contract which means that since they don't really produce the few years they may well be out of the league like korleone young...which is a shame because these guys (high school all americans, etc) are the future of the game. i mean if people say ugh look how inexperienced they are i say you are justified but i keep thinking what is this (goes into tough old gm mode) why umm, this michael jordan looks like he will be a great player and all, but he needs to go to college...i think we will go with the proven, more experienced player. yes indeed. (exit mode) lol of course jordan wouldn't have came in and led them to a title, but let's see it took him a few years to get adjusted and start dominating...what's to say if he came straight from high school he wouldn't have needed two or three as well? then we would have had three more years of jordan, and he would still have left at the same age. the only ones we can really judge now because they have had their three years are kg, kobe, and t-mac. you think not going to college hurt them? yeah i bet not learning all those "fundamentals" and "how to play the game" really hurt tracy mcgrady...oh wait, he's pouring in 27 points a game next year, when his former high school all american shane battier will be coming in fresh off four years of college and still need two or three years to "get adjusted" wait, i thought that was what college was for...riiight. lol. take the high school player and give him the time he needs to develop (yeah i know if he needs all the time to develop, why doesn't he go to college? because he will still need a few years in the nba after college to develop so take them young and watch them have longer nba careers. TAKE THE HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS!!! if they are good enough to come now, they are definately good enough to go to duke (just like shane and jwill) for four years and have nba gm's be like "wow, this kid is going to be a star" oh why don't people realize this lol. damn, all this stuff about me not putting spaces in my stuff has got too me...this is really long so i'm gonna go make it paragraph'd and indented. haha but i mean it's gay you gotta hold shift and then hit return to make an empty line...when i make these posts i just go and type whatever comes to mind, so there's my little explanation on why most of my posts are jacked. lol i guess trying to read all of this post in one big chunk like i had it would be pretty hard on the eyes to read... ------------------
It was pretty hard to read anyway!! But the point made is valid; a top 5 HS player generally goes on to become a solid college player and a high first round draft pick. IMHO it is well worth taking a flyer on a talented youngster who is top 5 in high school if they want to skip college. ------------------
Worst case for Cisse is that he becomes "the next Larry Smith", but more hops. The question becomes is "the next Larry Smith" worth the 23rd pick in a deep draft? I say yes. Cisse is also a good fit for the Rocks since they are not looking for a scorer with the 23rd pick. Cisse could become a great role player for the Rocks. ------------------
I would take Cisse in a blink of an eye with a second round pick. He might very well become a Hakeem Olajuwan type player at the 4 spot. He seems to have the same instinct and quick learning ability as the Dream. ------------------
