    why?

I don't understand why the Grizz would draft a shooting guard when they have Dickerson.

I think the Grizz are in dire need for a center so I see them drafting Diop over Richardson.

The only plausible reason for drafting Richardson is so they can trade Dickerson, but why would they trade Dickerson?

I'm just wondering if I'm missing something on this Richardson selection, it makes very little sense to me.

So all of you mockers with Richardson going to the Grizz, please explain it to me.

    Thanks

Memphis wants to trade Dickerson if they can pick Richardson but I'm not sure if that is a higher priority than taking a decent center.

The only reason I can think of is the "take the best available player regardless of position" scenario. When you think about it, all the centers in this draft are gambles. Potentially the best ones are probably all high schoolers and do all teams want to gamble on kids that haven't played a lick of "serious" competition or go with something more proven? Maybe Vancouver/Memphis also wants to get better now as opposed to waiting 2-3 years for a high school kid to establish himself.

But then who knows what lurks in the minds of the Mockers...

If I were the Grizz, I would trade this pick. They are set at 1,2,3 positions. Need a center or power player at 6. There is not a sure "pick" at those positions in top 6. I see them trading down, getting an extra #1 pick in the process - to draft Haywood, Woods, etc.

Richardson at 6...I don't have him there, but he's my 7th.

I have Vanc picking Woods because they need size, but Richardson will be better than Woods. I could see them trying to trade up a couple of spots for a high schooler or down for Woods.

Gasol is a possible for the 6th pick if Vanc trades it.

Vancouver will make a move in this draft. They will either trade up to get a HS player that will generate a buzz in their new hometown, or they will trade down to guarantee themselves a first round pick in next year's draft. I think the draft for the Grizzlies could be more about marketing the team for Memphis than drafting for position.
