ok, now we're on the same page.

Which number in the FAQ is the league average thing determining BYC? I was just reading one of their BYC things, and it started talking about things based on dates that made my head spin. Didn't see anything involving the league average. I see 120% of the player's previous salary or 75% of the new salary.

I see what you're saying now. So now let me see some of your simpler scenarios.

As for my Richmond scenario, how much have you seen of Curry. Personally, I'm convinced he'll be a 20-10-3 player in about 4 years, is better than over half the centers in the league right now, and will be an all star center in 3 years (think about it, what centers in the West will still be walking in 3 years outside of Shaq?)

As an outside note on BYC, that I just noticed, players signed this offseason, and future offseasons will only have 1 year of BYC attached to them, rather than 2.

    NIKE,

The NBA Daily mentions BYC. You tell me why. That is not the isse, though, so I didn't care to research it. This issue is Toronto made no promises like you presume. Upon further review, it looks like BYC was mentioned because Davis was coming off of it, so his trade value is different on Aug 1st that draft day. Again, those are variables that aren't controlled by GMs. It has nothing to do with GMs promosing future considerations.

Again, NIKE spots tidbits of errors while not retracting his own errors of propogating major promises that never happened.

I assume from this continued lack of retraction (that I've done twice in this thread for piddly stuff) that I can count on NIKE continuing to propogate major historical inaccuracies.

and here four smilies for RR

    Simpler Scenarios

I already mentioned one in this thread, go find it.

Also, did I say that your Richmond trade is bad for Houston, imo. No way we renounce Dream to absorb Richmond. So you'd trade a legitimate shot at Webber and our #13 and 18 for a high schooler and a cap crusher nothing man in Richmond.

heyparty-yeah, I know your one involving Cato/Walt. "scenarios" indicates plural, as in more than one. That sucks horribly for Washington-they don't create extra cap, and move down many slots. And have to absorb Cato for a long time, compared to Richmond
    for 2 more years.

When I made statements that said I was in agreement with you, saying that that promises involving renouncements won't happen.

I don't find this new error involving BYC as a tiny tidbit. I still think the likelihood of having to wait for the cap to go up on August 1 is greater than something involving BYC, because it was a simple 1 for 1 trade. It wouldn't have mattered at all if Davis was 50%, 75%, or no BYC, because Bender had no trade value. The great test for this would be to find the cap from the previous season. According to Bender, the salary cap going into 99-00 was 34 mill, compared to 30 mill the year before. In 98-99, the Toronto team salary was 36.88 mill, or well above the cap. Since the new year isn't in effect for draft trades (not sure on this) a trade couldn't go down on draft day that would have Toronto gaining salary more than 115%+100K. The question is now, how did Toronto get to 29.8 mill if they were 36 mill, and needed to get lower? Sharone Wright, and his 4 mill retired. BJ Tyler, and his 1.4 mill was released, Still around 2 mill unaccounted for, and that's not taking into consideration players counting against the cap unrenounced (such as $10 mill Oakley).

Again, Davis signed his contract 7/14/96 according to Bender. If BYC issues were even a factor, year one would be the 96-97 season, and year two would be 97-98. The trade took place after the 98-99, and even then took place under the salary cap of the 99-00 season. Where's the BYC?

But won't Richmond's and Francis' contacts expire at the same time, providing us cap room to resign The Franchise? Didn't someone report that that magical year was 2003?

I just moved from Iowa to Houston. So I can lean more on the "TX" than the "IA" now. I'm tired and I haven't had my clutchcity fix for two days. Nothing much to say, except:

    Nike:

Webber won't go to Washington. The only thing that I really got out of the Costas interview awhile back was that he wouldn't return to Washington because the future of the team is cloudy. And I'm sure he has negative memories of the time there.

And I'm too lazy to go back and check who posted it, but Webber said he doesn't want to string anyone along and so will make a choice by draft time. I just think he's being agreeable, not wanting to further tarnish his image should he make an unpopular decision (and everyone assumes he wants to be in the East: if he signed here, there would be a lot of backlash.)

Not that I know he'll come here. Doc Rocket seems to think so.

We need to post watchers at Steve's and Cat's houses on draft day to see if Webber's over there watching the draft on TV.

ehhh. LaFrentz is great and all but then we'd be awfully weak at SF and SG.

Colson is a marginal player and Langhi as your SF is begging teams to score on ya.

If all the marbles fell into place and he fell far enough:

    Diop at 13,
    Jefferson at 18
then take the best available player at 23

Perhaps deal #23 for 2 second rounders if we can't move up
