Don't worry man, I'm not offended at all. I'm not really asking to join the team, just letting you know I'm available. I actually passed up on joining another league because I thought I'd be out of the country but that fell through so now I'm a "free agent". Actually, if I were you I probably wouldn't pick me up either unless it were out of desperation. You need size right now. As far as statistics go, we didn't record them for the C League. I guess when you're losing by 30 every game, it's a little "immature" to get caught up in your stats. I guess that's why we didn't. For the D League we did. The first few games we just did a stat sheet while the game was going on, but it wasn't all that accurate. For the last 5 games or so (+ playoffs) I brought my camcorder so we were able to go back and do accurate stats for those games after the fact. It's by far the best way to do it if you can find someone to tape for you. We just turned the camera over to one of the guy's girlfriend's. The 20ppg is an estimate, because as I said, we didn't take official stats for C Leage. The other team had so much size down low (literally 6'7" vs. 6'1" or so) that it was pointless to really run any plays or try and get the ball inside. Our offense pretty much consisted of me bringing the ball up court and looking for the first opportunity to get my shot off. Most of the teams played such aggressive defense that a lot of the time I had to pull up from literally 5 feet behind the 3-point line just to get a clean look and avoid a double team. Luckily my range was damn near half court at the time so I was able to shoot a nice percentage. D League was another story though...I shot like crap. But yeah...definitely bring a camera if someone has one. It makes stats a hell of a lot easier, and you can make highlight videos each week like we did.
Haha I went and yall is famous...I'm still semi confused..I wasn't shure if yall were the guys in white or like the maroon/black, every game was a white jersey team vs a darker jersey team, the music was a nice touch to. I'm afraid we're not lucky enuff to have our stuff taped but the stats are possible...
By the way, those videos are all from D League. That's why the competition looks like trash. If you want to see highlights similar to a C League game, you might want to try this site... www.nba.com
What is basically boils down is to team morale and I'm proud to say we could go 0-8 and as long as improved each game I'd consider the season successful. I get irritated/agitated by thos people who refuse to play if they're not gonna be winning / if they are losing act like a baby about it. Which league did u turn down? I only seem to know about sportsmonkey. ymca, and Fonde but I think its only by invitation this summer.
I can say, I have played at Fonde. albeit for like five minutes, but I played at Fonde during an afternoon during the weekday.
Yeah I'm hoping that these 2 summer leagues will warm us up for playing at Fonde this upcoming Fall. Is anyone here gonna go check out the summer league games at Fonde? I've been wanting to for a while now but for one reason or another it didn't work out for me last summer...
Well, some of the guys from the YMCA leagues were going to get another team together after we got eliminated from the D League playoffs, but the entry fee for the next league was due like THAT day or something silly like that. I was under the impression that I'd be in Thailand from like May - August, so I wouldn't have joined on anyway. I already had plans to go teach some Thai kids how we play over here in the states lol. I hear what you're saying about playing for pride, win or lose. I have the same mentality. I just wanted you to know what you were up against, just in case you were the kind of person that would feel cheated out of money if your team got blown out every game. Again, I don't know you or your teammates so that may not happen, but I'm just saying that the C League we played in was some serious competition. I still enjoyed playing every game though. It was a challenge that I welcomed every week actually.
That's a good one man, just don't quit your day job. - I've actually seen PiPdAdY33's team play and those dudes can hoop.
NOt that I"m picking up but I'm certain potential team coordinators would like to know height and weight and previous experience...I know I would...
Update I've secured a 6'4 guy who used to play college ball and his friend who played with him and can play in the post and jump out of the ceiling. And possibly his 6'10" friend who's getting back next week. I think we just got a little more competitive... P.S. not picking up ne guards so there won't be nebody also to make the entry passes...lol
League got pushed back till June 5th, and here I was hoping we'd have our 1st game tomorrow. More time for me to get ready I suppose. This league is still open if anyone wants to get in on it...
Hmm... I ask because I was looking at their calendar and as you can see, there isn't anything on Mondays. http://eteamz.active.com/postoakysports/calendar/index.cfm?date=2006-06-01&subsite=3324198
