I'm wrestling with the idea of eventually buying a new video game system (probably next summer after some price breaks), but I am wondering if I am starting to get to the age where it is too old to play video games. I'll be 22 in June and headed on to law school, so I'd imagine free-time will be at a premium and a new system wouldn't be that good of an investment. I used to play RPG's when I was younger. 2 winters ago I finished GTA3 and GTA: Vice City and received San Andreas for Xmas, but I haven't even gotten around to playing it yet. The one thing that I really do use my ps2 for is sports games. I absolutely love playing NCAA football by myself or with friends (and last year on the internet, but I haven't been able to do that at my current apartment). I know I'll pick up the new NCAA this summer too. Anyway, those who play videogames: how old are you and what games to you regularly play?
A good question would also be "what system do you have?" Age: 30. Games I play: GT4 (not even close to 25% done), Madden 2006 (at Madden level of training), FIFA Soccer 2006 (rented it many times, will buy it now that it costs $20), ESPN NBA 2k5... Tekken Tag with the wife... that's about it. I like testing other games, and don't like buying too many... I think I will NOT buy the new PS3 nor the XBOX, as I am happy with what I can already do with the FIRST-GENERATION out-of-production out-of-warranty networkless REALLY-THICK PS2. RC Cola: (since I know you will be reading this) THe Video Game Revolution special was on again last night on PBS HD.
Age: 35 Games played on PS2: NCAA Football, NBA2K, Madden, MVPBaseball, Tiger Woods Golf. Funny to see this thread. I went into a Gamespot store on Sunday to pick up the new baseball game. I felt like a tool for being there because there were little kids all over the place looking at the games....and there I was, right along with them.... I tell myself that I only play the sports games and that makes me somewhat less dorky. At least I hope that's the case...
I'm 35 and I own a Gamecube. I might play 45 min a day max to relax. I like Zelda, Mario, etc. I just ordered Starfox Adventures hehe. I buy all my games used off Ebay for cheap.
i'm 28 and will be playing til i turn over in my grave. sports games, espionage, rpg. it's all good entainment for a good value. you get more out of a great game than you do out of a movie or any other "time waster". and it can be quite a learning tool if used appropriately.
There should be no shame for still gaming. It's not a toy, it's viable form of entertainment media like movies, music, and tv. It just happens to be interactive. For you guys in your 30's and older, you will still be gaming 30 years from now, bank on it.
Im 34. I played Halo with my son online but wasnt that good. I stopped after some little girl killed me and teabagged me and then laughed.
23. I play stuff that is easily startable and stoppable because of time constraints. EA sports owns my gaming collection.. NCAA FB, March Madness, FIFA, Fight Night, etc
24. PS2 sports games..NBA Live, Madden, NCAA Football, Tiger Woods sometimes.. although I'll go in phases. For the most part I don't have time anymore between work, hanging out with people, and trying not to live like a slob
I only play PC games. I deleted Counterstrike about 6 months ago so I can do something more constructive with my time. Now, I haven't got anything left to play so I'm stuck with dumb internet flash games.
26. All that I play is Counter Strike 1.6 on the PC. I log at least 6 hours per week playing it, and have been playing it since the early beta days circa year 2000.
I'm 26 and just got my XBOX 360 about 2 weeks ago. I've been playing Oblivion. I was telling my boss about it and he wants to get one for Call of Duty 2. He's over 50.
32 here, and I play/own just about every sports game known to man on my Xbox console. Although I'm now addicted to The Godfather as I'm only a few points shy of making Capo. The game is now owning all of my free time. I'm about to go switch the dark side and join the 360 revolution. I'll then laugh at you peons and your outdated minds. Muah.
34 PS2 - I bought it because I didn't have a DVD player. I played alot until about a year ago and then stopped when I got my PSP. I play the Grand Theft Auto games, Killzone, Fifa, and EA Canada games(NBA, Fifa, NFL Street). A group of us have been playing Tiger Woods lately, which has got me playing again.
34 X-box (will wait for the release of the PS3 to buy the 360 - price drop) NBA Live, Madden, Fight Night, GTA type games I feel no shame about it as it is a great way to unwind. I have friends who have made fun of me and then they come over and you can see that they want to play, need to play, but will not submit because of how they have ridden me about it (not to mention how much I trash-talk when I am absolutely destroying someone in a sports game).
Age 22 Mostly PC gaming. Games I've been playing recently online: Call of Duty 2 BattleField 2 Age of Empires 3 I'm pissed off there isn't a new MLB game on PC this year. Stupid ****ing 2K sports and their license rights for the game.
