What did you guys think of Thomas Hamilton. He got what appeared to be extended minutes last night. This is what I thought... 1) Thomas looked like he was hustling all night despite being slow in that amphibious sort of way. That surprised me and I would even go as far as to say that he was moving better than Hakeem on the fast break. 2) He hit the boards, and although he couldn't get any air underneath him, was so tall that he just snatched the boards out of the air. That's a really good sign. 3) He missed that foul line jumper, but it looked good all the way. So maybe he does have a nice little set shot. 4) That was one hell of an outlet pass. I've seen Barkely mess that pass up all the time. The biggest thing here is that he looked down court and tried to ignite the break after a MADE basket. That's a veteran move. Overall: We all know he is a project, and that we shouldn't get our hopes up, but let's admit that he was playing really well last night for a backup. I'm not going to say much more for fear that I'll be ridiculed, but I will say this, I'm not going to get nervous or mad at Rudy when he's put Ham in the game.
For a 340 pounder, he's got good moves. But he's still a 340 pounder... He ain't no Hakeem. Good for what was really a debut for him, though. Not bad.
I was also impressed with Hamilton. I can't understand, though, how after a full training camp and all the running he must do in practice why he would still look so overweight. I'm afraid he might just have a serious problem there that he may have no control over. I thought he played well, though. If he can at least keep his weight to where it is now, I see could see him potentially being a decent backup for years, worst case.
The man is large and in charge. I just hope he doesn't turn into another Stanley Roberts. ------------------ Just Win Baby! More Than Three Times!
I don't care if I'm ridiculed. I like Hamilton a lot. Hope he gets more time out there! After Cato though.
I'm a Tbone Ham fan since the Jazz game when he backed in to dunk over Ostertag, I posted "if he can do that he can do it to other centers" but got mocked. I always shout for "bring in Tbone Ham" in the chatroom, Kenny Thomas should be paired with Hamilton and play more too.
The thing about Hamilton that I noticed was he has good hands for a big man. He can catch a pass in traffic or grab a rebound without looking like he has butter fingers! This is a huge asset for a big man. I need to see him some more to be sure, but with 6 rebounds in 8 minutes, I liked what I saw from him last night.
THam played so well last night he does'nt even deserve that nickname. He played with heart and determination, in that sleepy giant kind of way He has yet to prove how consistently he can keep this up, but for a third-string center, you can't do much better. Speaking of heavyweights, seeing Oliver Miller and Hamilton jockeying for position was no doubt a kodak moment! That one could be a collectors item. i've said it before, i'll say it some more, kenny thomas hamilton rules! ahhh... but cereally folks, tbone is fast for a 350+ lb. person. he's also always smiling and upbeat... now if he'd chill on all of those shot attempts (3-7 isn't bad, and i guess at least he isn't afraid but he seemed to keep taking shots when we were losing the lead between the 3rd and start of the 4th)
