``He'll(Troy Murphy) be gone way before 20,'' said Wallace. ``New Jersey's dabbling around with him at the seventh pick. . . . Obviously we're seriously looking at him, and the teams right behind us - Seattle and Houston - are, as well. I'd say he'll be off the board very early in this draft.''

``Joe Johnson is a 6-8 small forward (from the University of Arkansas) who reminds me of Antoine (Walker) in the sense that as a big player he can also serve as an auxiliary ballhandler,'' said general manager Chris Wallace. ``I think he's going to be an outstanding player in the league and a really good scorer.''

Radmanovic has been impressive in workouts and improved his chances of being chosen in the draft lottery, which would make him one of the top 13 picks.

Radmanovic is an excellent athlete with better-than-average jumping ability, and he can shoot and defend on the perimeter. In workouts, he has dominated some of last season's top college players who are his size.

Murphy is the most polished offensive threat of the four who worked out Monday. He left Notre Dame after three seasons with a career scoring average of 21.4 points.

His size and scoring ability are tempting to the Pistons. Murphy and Dana Barros, a Pistons guard last season, are the only players to have led the Big East in conference games scoring in consecutive seasons.

"He was a very talented kid when he came to us as a transfer from [George Washington High in] Denver," said Randy Westrol, who coached White for one year at J.P. Stevens in Edison, N.J., one of the stops in the player's long pre-college odyssey. "He came, left. I wish he would have stayed and developed. But he was lazy at times, especially academically."

"I feel sorry for him," Maryland coach Gary Williams said late last season. "Terence has had some great games for us. But he's had so much hype. It's been tough on him with his type of [low-key] personality."
It is impossible to gauge how much the burden of unfulfilled expectations will affect Morris' draft selection. While he's not considered a potential superstar, he is widely regarded as someone who can be a strong complimentary player, similar to the way he supported Francis during his sophomore season. One possible scenario has Morris reuniting with Francis in Houston; the Rockets have the 13th, 18th and 23rd picks overall.

And that is what intrigues the Nets, who after a swell 26-victory season need help now and may not have the patience - nor the fan base - to wait on a high-school kid. White, who turns 21 in eight days, has impressed with his versatility and strength. The Nets are desperate for toughness and offense. They need someone to hit the boards and could care less if he ever hit the books.
