I'll admit at the beginning of the year that I didn't ever invision the Rockets running game like last night. I thought the post was still very effective. Boy was I wrong. I absolutely love this offense. TO see Cato filling the lane is an amazing thing. Francis is a great finisher, that dunk he had last night was unbelievable. I guess the key is the guys are willing to run now. I think in the preseason Chuck & Dream slowed things down, maybe just by their presence on the court. Now I see the team has figured out that they are suppose to run! Barkley's outlet pass to Francis in the 2nd half was great (where Francis got behind the D). Hopefully Hakeem can see how well this Offense works and he can find a way to fit in when he comes back. All in all, I now believe in the offense. I feel like that scene in Rocky where he just beat the Russian and is talking about change. I know the offense will work, and it should definetely be option #1. The post can be effective but I love this running game. Also I love to see us setting more picks for Francis & Mobley. We are getting better at this!
The running game looks excellent. As a loyal Hakeem fan though, I'm worried that he really doesn't have a place in it. I'm actually worried whether He'll come back after recovery, given a successful game develops in his absence (which appears to be the case). How does one tell a God he is no longer needed??? The prospect makes me quiver even thinking about it - even though it's inevitable... Jesus........ How do we tell Hakeem we have a running game now?!?
Count me in! Which dunk was unbelieveable? There're many ...... You sound like Hakeem has been seriously sick or died ... funny! What can we do about telling our GOD that His offense is no longer compatible? Let bow and pray ...... That's one thing that worries me. What will Rudy do if our running game turns out successful (which it was last night) before Hakeem is back? Hakeem's back, then what? Rudy has to make a decision. BIG one. Loyal Hakeem fans like us wouldn't like to see Hakeem sidelined. Right? Will He be willing to adjust for the team, rather than the team adjusts for Him? GOD knows! Contradictory things do happen. Just like when Cato scores and rebounds and blocks shots, you love every bit of it, and, however, you will imagine how difficult it will be for Hakeem when He comes back. A headache! Let's not worry now. Let's enjoy these 4-6 weeks. The running got me hyped!
At least pretend to have some respect... Talk about Hakeem's dune home on Galveston West beach... Talk about his huge tennis court (I hear he likes his court) What are his plans? How would he feel about Clyde coaching the team???
Respect ... I don't need to pretend to have. I do have it, a lot of it, for a long time. About his return, ...... full of ???
Sorry folks but Hakeem MUST adjust his game to benefit the team. Period. This is the Houston ROCKETS, not the Houston HAKEEMS. NO DISRESPECT IS INTENDED NOR SHOULD BE IMPLIED. I have as many memories of the Dream as everybody else, I do not dislike Dream or think he is "washed up". What makes players great, i.e. Michael Jordan, is that they adjust to changes. Changes in the way they are able to play (due to injury, getting older, etc), changes in the way their team plays, and changes in the way basketball as a sport is played. Hakeem must adjust or ride the pine. We can not continue to cater to individuals, no matter what has happened in the past. ------------------ The truth is out there... but I forget where...
Rocketability Tru Hakeem fans have a hard time with this... question. I no like, but that will not make it go away.But... We all know the league is not merely getting younger, it is getting more talented - and it demands more $.Better to play on the beach...
Okey Dokey, though I'm not sure why I'd email anything containing the words "beach" or "bench"... I'd never ask the man to step down. Maybe that's part of the problem.
Yall, if we make the playoffs, it will be with Hakeem still playing. We still need him. Yes, he needs to adjust and let Stevie be the #1 option. But we need him hitting the dreamshake, etc. and playing D. Maybe I'm the one having a hard time adjusting but I think Hakeem will have to play hard and be an integral part of the team for us to go anywhere THIS YEAR. I kind of like the concept of Cato and Dream starting. Then, like now, we would only have one post up player out there leaving the lane open sometimes. Barkley could come off the bench maybe with Cato moving to center and again only one post up player out there? I am the first to say I'm not too knowledgeable about these things. What do yall think?
well, I don't think Hakeem can run, so while the team is fastbreaking, hakeem will just have to slowly run up behind everybody. but when we don't run, that doesn't mean that we have to do the d-i-t offense! HERE IS WHAT I ENVISION IN AN OFFENSE WITH HAKEEM: Hakeem setting picks and moving without the ball. Let francis/mobley drive and dish to hakeem for the open 15-18 jumper. set screens for hakeem so that he can shoot those 15-18 jumpers. and of course, let hakeem post up a little bit. But the main difference in all this is that Hakeem will be utilizing his 15-18 foot jumper.
