Man, i wish I got NBA TV on my cable system.

Those that can get it and watch, please report back on VSpan!

Everything I have heard is he really "attacks" the basket and is having a good year.

Okay here’s my report on Spanoulis. 20 points and maybe half a dozen assists. He had more than a few moments several against ex-NBAer Casey Jacobsen. On 1 series he drove into the lane and and nudged his shoulder into Casey enough to create space and easily got his shot off and Jacobsen fouled him. Then Jacobsen went down the court and tried to return the favor and Spanoulis stoled the ball right in front of him while he was dribbling. That was actually kind of impressive. He has a good outside shot… looks to be able to hit the three in the nba and should help the Rockets in that area. He has the ability to drive in the lane and get his shot of almost at will. Kind of like Richard Hamilton where he drives into a player and then kicks back creating space and making it very difficult to block. I see no reason why he won’t be able to do that in the NBA as well. He also can drive the lane and then find the open man on the court and dish it to him. He is a very accurate passer several times in the game leading his teammate with a near perfect pass.

Okay so here are some of the negative things. He is definitely not a prototypical point guard. I would say he is more of a pg/sg. Not super athletic but very physical. Not great handles but good enough. Passes well but not spectacular. Not super speed but has a quick first step. He seems to play solid defense but in the NBA only a handful of points won’t be faster than him. Still all and all I liked what I saw. He plays smart, doesn’t take bad shots and although he will never be confused with Magic or Nash he is a good passer he is unselfish. Already I think he is a better prospect than Marko Jaric. If I had to compare him to someone I would say it would be Scott Skiles without the Fancy passing. He looks to be NBA ready and I think he could help the Rockets at both the 1 and 2 spots right away.

I saw the Pana match aganst Tau. This guy can defend, penetrate, dish assists, make the open 3s  . He's a Parker-style player. Parker is a little bit quicker but VSpan shoots better.

A few tenths over 6-4 - rock solid built (muscles) and great base (lower limb).

He is indeed a scoring guard. The book on him is that he is a prideful person - that he would like to see action if he comes accross the Atlantic. This is a rumour though - nothing guaranteed. His team just got knocked off in the biggest tournament in Europe.

My dream team for next season will look like this

    1. Alston
    2. Spanoulis
    3. Noel (David)
    4. Head
    5. Bogans
    6. Gay (Rudy)
    7. McGrady
    8. Hayes
    9. Bowen (by default, since he has one year left)
    10. Swift*
    11. Howard
    12. Yao
    13. Mutombo

The league is moving towards athleticism more and more teams like the Wizards, Suns, Bulls, etc. with little to no big man impact or dominance.

And then we can use the MLE (full or spilt) to pickup a veteran shooter or two or trade for one. We could also dangle Stromile in trade for comparable parts in areas of defficiency if there is a need.
