I start to wonder, with arguably the best center in the world, can the CNT get something done?

Wouldn't all the Chinese fans be angry if JVG didn't play him? Obviously now that he is injured, they're going to be mad. But I doubt they would like it if this season had 10 games left or so and they decide to bench Yao. Who else do they watch for? Actually, come to think of it, this season, who else do I watch for?

It's not like JVG had a choice between playing Yao or not. If he does bench him all season, fans get mad, ticket sales go down, etc. If he plays him, there's a chance he gets injured. (Which ended up happening, so in retrospect, it would have been better to bench him had we known this injury would have happened :p ).

It is not wrong technically. But only showing selected information to your readers instead of the whole picture is purposefully misleading.

On a side note, there is a culture gap in media reporting. We ordinary Chinese actually often take the words related to capitalism as joking material nowadays. I consider it evidence of speech freedom, while it could be the reverse to some foreigners who never really know what the Chinese are thinking.

the only bad thing about Ming's injury is that it didnt happen a month or two ago. we would have a shot at a top 5 , even top 3, pick.

Ming himself would be well on the road to recovery already , and rested for next season.

And we would have had an even better chance to see how bad we are in the big man department...

I , for one, am happy as hell if Ming misses the whole damn world championships, does next to nothing during the off season and gets back in October ready to go all out. Hopefully with a healthy McGrady, an upgrade slotted in at the 4 spot, and one or two more hired marksman.

The Best Center in NBA is also the best Center in World. It does not work the other way around.

The best way for Yao to help the CNT is by becoming the undisputed best center in the NBA and in turn an MVP. The only way he can do that is by preparing himself thru rest and training at this level, for this level of competition. You cant have it both ways.

Personally I am just glad that after all these years, Yao has become a player that we miss. A legit number one option, thanks to the NBA and the Rockets :)

If you don't want Yao to play for the CNT just say it. I will understand because it is Rox board and Nobody cares about CNT.
But Plz Don't say it in the name of Helping CNT. How can do not play for a team is benificial for the team!
PLZ!! Just say you don't want Yao have anything to do with CNT. Stop the BS

Under the current circumstances I do think Yao should not play at all this summer. I would prefer he just heal up his body and not rush back to play with the CNT.

You are blowing this whole CNT thing way out of proportion. He is injured let him rest. No sense in crying over spilt milk. The only BS on here is your delusional rants about how JVG is the reason Yao's injured.

My question to you: Do you think if Yao became an MVP with the Rockets he would not be a better player with the CNT because of that?

Basically what you are asking is Yao will improve with the rox(i Agree) So If we want Yao keep Growing then Yao should never play for the CNT....
Giving up Asian Cup and some meanlingless continental Competitons are acceptable. But not WC and Olympics. That is the bottom Line.(unless you are injuried and really have to rest for 4 months)

According to this article, rehabilitation of a JONES Fracture in a basketball player typically takes about six to eight weeks, which is in remarkably huge disagreement (by at least a factor of four if you want to quantify) with the "six-month recuperation period" cited in the Reuters report, even with plenty of additional time needed to accommodate such factors as Yao's size/weight and previous injury history.

In this regard, I think the suspicions from the Chinese official and some Chinese fans of possible mis-reporting and/or "conspiracy" are not entirely without merits.
