They support our troops - they really, really do, and don't let anyone claim otherwise. http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/archive/2006/April/11/local/stories/14local.htm
[Beejster 3:30am] Hi ****ole. **** off. that is the absolute WORST insult you could POSSIBLY ****ing give to a liberal. You are a ****ed-up ***hole **** of a *****!!!! ***![/Beejster 3:30am] back to reality.... these guys who did this truly hate our troops. End of story.
These protesters are prohibiting the troops from their recruitment efforts. EltonJohn Tex, usually protesters don't support the things that they're protesting. I figured you might understand that point, but I suppose I must explain even the most basic of concepts to you.
I'd be inclined to say they dislike, hate is such a strong word, our nations military and the tasks the military is assigned to carry out. To say they hate our troops, the common people making up the armed forces seems a stretch. One thing Vietnam did teach the American people is not to take out their anger on the individuals who make up the military. The protesters are trying to dry up the supply of soldiers, that way making the ability to wage illegal wars more difficult.
drying up the supply of soldiers jeopardizes our nation's defense. That's a terrible idea. A better way would be to vote for different candidates. I guess you already lost that one, though, LOL
One thing Vietnam did teach the American people is ... absolutely *ucking nothing. Even if a modicum of what we learned was remembered we would not be in Iraq.
I guess the protesters are just frustrated with democracy. At least they aren't protesting in front of hospitals housing injured soldiers.
Vietnam tought the politicians not to wage wars with a conscripted army. Since there is not a draft, many Americans don't care about our nations imperialistic ventures.
Most protestors are protesting against and for something at the same time. Take the above picture... protest against unequal treatment, protest for civil rights. In fact, the thing people are for is usually the focus. MLK, Jr. didn't say "I'm against lynching." He said, "I have a dream." Same with Ghandi, Chavez, etc. Now, when you have an unpopular war, it's hard not to have the against part of your argument be subserviant to the for part. Still, the basic concept you outline is more complex than you suppose, though I appreciate your attempts to explain it to us. And nice jab at RocketMan Tex. Always fills me with pride when a new code word for homo crops up. With any luck, Republicans will be using this in their push polling this year... "Would you support the Liberal, Pinko Dem if you knew he listened to... gasp... Elton John?" You should contact Rove... maybe you'll get an autographed picture from W that you can hang above your bed and gaze wistfully at every night as you drop off to sleep secure in the knowledge that you've done your part to lower the public discourse and further divide the country. I salute you bigtexx.
Mentioning MLK and Ghandi's name in the same paragraph as these troop haters is incredibly disrespectful to MLK and Ghandi. Pls show some class... Where the heck did this come from? Brah, you're way off base. I wasn't referring to the fact that Elton John is gay. In case you didn't know, Elton John sang a song called "Rocket Man" after which I assume that RM Tex got his name. If anybody's insulting others around here it's you by calling me a ***-hater.
Yes, these protestors are prohibiting the troops from their recruitment efforts, Ashlee. By doing so, they are preventing kids to die for George W.'s lie in Iraq as well. Therefore, the protestors are actually saving lives by doing what you call "hating the troops". It must suck to be you, Ashlee.
You obviously don't pay much attention around here, do you Ashlee? After all, this is only a HOUSTON ROCKETS website, ain't it?
