when has there been a real GOOD draft?? Players like Jordan, Bird, Magic come along once in a blue moon and ppl think THIS is the year that one of those might be born. This is not the that year though. Too many hs players who will take time to develop or might never be able to play properly in this level, or univ players who just have enough potential to be stars BUT not real superstars. Iverson, Carter, Bryant, shaq, duncan are a joke compared to Jordan, Bird, Magic. Maybe next year we will see but its been 15 years since i've been enlightened.

    dude, what's wrong with you?

Since when have we clearly seen that these players won't end up better?

Dude, I hope you don't plan on posting here for very long... because after about 3-4 weeks, your moniker is going to have no meaning. [IMG]

Thanks Francis3, i'll take care of this dude.

I believe the measure of greatness should be how one stacks up against one's peers, not against other players in history. So who cares if a player is "better" than jordan or bird. What matters is if he is better than the players in the league now. So, teams in this years draft care whether players will dominate like a bird or magic, not if they are actually as good as them.

Another thing is that basketball players as a whole get better every generation. with the introduction of weight training, today's bball players are as a whole, bigger, stronger, and more athletic than those, even, ten years ago. Just look at Kobe against Jordan at 23. not who is "better", but just look at their body's. Kobe's is much more devoloped as 23 than Jordan's was. Just look at Tmac, name other player from 40, 20, even 10 years ago at his size that could do the things he can. There are not too many if even one, but there a plenty who are close to him now (kobe, carter, miles, etc) So in closing the question is not if there are players in the draft as good as Jordan, bird, magic, but if there are players that will dominate their peers like those guys did. And anyone who has watched this years playoff, can see that today young stars are doing just that.

haha u guys are mad eh?? thats good......and have totally no argument. Todays players are good..... but come in the territory of clutch, game after game?!? thats where todays players cant compare. Its ignorant for me to say they are not superstars..... but they don't have that tenacity to do it on a consistant basis, to win 2-3-4 championships in a row.

and whats with this players have evolved argument?? if jordan or bird played in this era, they would still be the best. Enough hammerheads in this forum.

#13 you just showed how ignorant you are. Because Larry Bird never won two championships in a row, Magic Johnson only won 2 in a row once, Jordan managed 3 twice but he was the best player EVER To expect the guys you mentioned who are for the most part not older than 26 to have matched Jordan is completely ridiculous. What had Jordan won at 26? BTW if the Lakers win this championship that makes two in a row, so by your criterion that would make Shaq and Kobe better than Bird and the equal of Magic. Right?

Guys, cut him some slack. He admits in the last sentence of his first post that it's been 15 years since he has been enlightened.

From what I've read, KC's Mom is the cream of this years crop.

To a slight degree, I think the inflammatory fellow has a point. I do miss Bird versus Magic, or what should have happened, Jordon versus Hakeem. Shaq is the only guy I think right now I would say is getting in the above guys caliber. (Duncan is no Hakeem).

I never remember Jordan struggling in playoff games the way Kobe and Iverson have, even some this year. They have struggled for whole games in all phases of the game, I just don't remember Jordon being held down like that. Even in his "off" offensive games, he would seem to help his team in other ways. The current group of star guards are more in the Isiah and Drexler category, than the MJ, West or Robertson category IMO. This could change as they progress, but they aren't there yet.

I don't think the draft is overrated every year. The Francis draft everybody said was going to suck. And out comes Francis, Brand, Odom, Baron Davis and a number of other good players. That draft was way underrated. The next draft was no great shakes. There is a chance that this year's draft is overrated simply because people have such high expectations of it.

I would say this draft has the best potential talent available in a long time. Some will be duds, but the number of successes should be good if half the players live up to the hype.

He very easily could be. He already has a more impressive offensive game(than Dream did at that stage in his career), and a pretty good defensive game.

Let's hope it is not like the draft class of 1986!
