Each of the five players from the Class of 2001 expected to go in the first round have aspects of their game that enamor NBA scouts and personnel types. Brown, who averaged 20.1 points, 13.3 rebounds and 5.8 blocks per game as a senior, is considered the best all-around talent in the group. With strong ball handling, passing and shooting skills, the muscular 240-pound forward has the kind of versatility that has inspired comparisons to former Kansas star and current Utah Jazz forward Danny Manning, among others. Curry has been tagged with the nickname "Baby Shaq" for obvious reasons. The 290-pound center (he shed nearly 30 pounds during his senior season) has light feet and an impressive array of post moves. The MVP of the McDonald's All-American Game was virtually impossible to stop one-on-one on the prep level, muscling opponents to the tune of 22 points, 9 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per contest. Chandler, who was chronicled on the popular news show 60 Minutes before ever playing a high school game, is the premier athlete in the group and ranks just slightly behind Brown in terms of versatility. The smooth 7-footer, who led his team to a national championship as a junior, finished his senior year with averages of 26 points, 13 rebounds and 7 blocks en route to winning a third consecutive state crown. Diop, a true center like Curry, led his high school squad to a national title this season, posting 14.6 points, 13.2 rebounds and 8 blocks per game before a stress fracture in his foot ended his season prematurely. At 320 pounds and with the wingspan of a person 7-5, the moniker "Baby Shaq" might actually suit him better than Curry. Some high school recruiting experts - in contrast to their NBA counterparts - believe that Cisse will eventually be the best talent in the group. A warrior in the weight room (he can bench press 370 pounds) and on the court, the long-armed forward from Mali who was forced to miss his junior season after changing schools recorded 29 points, 16 rebounds and a whopping 13 blocks per contest. He also saw limited action (21 games) due to an ankle injury. ------------------ I hate rice and beans!
Bench 370 and he is only 11 years old!!!! We got to get this guy. ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
I never really thought about Cisse, but now after reading reports on him , I wouldnt mind taking him. His height is not good for a Power Forward, 6'8 but he is very damn strong. His arms are really long. 91 INCH REACH. That is more than Chandler. Some interesting notes from nbadraft.net. He has serious hops. There's a picture from Cisse's soph year where he is going out to block a 3 pt shot and the shooter pump fakes it and he jumps OVER the kid. I'm not making this up. He can jump through the gym. HIs high school numbers are inflated...He didn't have 29 ppg or 13 blocks per game in his senior year , but he did have nights where he blocked that many and scored much more. In his soph year, he once blocked 17 in a game. That's a fact. ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
If these facts are correct, and if he has a 7'7" wingspan, etc. etc., we should grab him. With arms that long and that kind of athleticism, you could plug him in anywhere on the front line. Even if he's only 6'8", with arms and a leap like that, could he play center? ------------------
I wouldn't mind at all if the Rockets took Cisse at 23. But the chance of Rudy taking a high school kid are slim to none. ------------------
I hope you basketball fans understand the significance of have a 91" wingspan AND bench pressing 370 pounds. Short arms give an athlete a tremendous advantage when it comes to bench pressing weights. Cisse is one strong dude. Also, good shot blocking comes from a combination of quickness, agility, timing, rhythm, and body control. Anybody that can block shots like Cisse, even though he may have played against poor competition, is very intriguing to me. To be so strong and show that kind of athleticism is special. ------------------ I hate rice and beans!
I am incredibly intrigued by this guy and I hope that the Rockets bring him in for a workout and maybe they will see if he is as special as everyone keeps saying. Does anyone know who else the Rockets will be bringing in for workouts? Just because Rudy doesn't normally draft young guys doesn't mean that he shouldn't work them out. Come on Rudy, take a chance! ------------------
Yeah, Cisse is a VERY intriguing prospect, and is supposed to be on the 'FREAK' (as in Freak of Nature) side. He sounds like a better prospect than Donnell(sp?) Harvey. ------------------
Wasn't Larry Smith only 6'8" or 6'9"? As far as defense and rebounding he could really bring it. Cisse sounds very similar only with a lot more athletism and the potential for more offense. ------------------
Damn, I want Cisse! ------------------ Rarely is the question asked: Guns kill squirrels than REDRUM to fools across the nation?
