Alot of Gerald Wallace fans out here, and alot of people who hate him. Wallace and Jason Collins had a private workout for a whole bunch of scouts in Chicago yesterday. This is how it went The spotlight was supposed to be on Collins and Wallace. Collins also had a strong workout and showed a lot of range on his jumper. But his lack of athleticism and jumping ability was in stark contrast to Wallace, who was jumping out of the gym. The knock on Wallace coming into the workout was that he couldn't hit a jumper. Today was no different. Wallace even had difficulty knocking down 10 footers. The only shots Wallace was getting to fall were the dunks (however he even shanked one of those) which prompted one scout to quip, "You know who the best rebounder in Chicago is? The trainer chasing all of Wallace's missed shots." After the workout Wallace told sportsTALK that despite some negative reviews, he's sticking with the draft. ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
Well I'm stunned. Who would've guessed the guy couldn't shoot? Then again, it doesn't matter, because this is the guy with the one hand windmill... guaranteed superstar in the making there. ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor and Jason Collier fan club! Not surprised with the report on Wallace. Count me as one of the Wallace fans, but also count me as one who has always felt that Wallace has some MAJOR work to do on his game. I would still like the Rocks to take a chance on him. Like I've said (or written) before, I think his career track is going to be similar to that of Mike Finley. Finley couldn't hit a jumper his first few years in the NBA, most of his points came off dunks and in transition. But he worked his ASSets off and became an All-Star caliber player capable of playing 2 to 3 positions. Reports are Wallace has a work ethic similar to Finley's, as well as the athleticism and aggressiveness. I still say that Wallace is a good prospect to take a gamble on. ------------------
Also, despite alot of hype, finley was taken at #24. Things that make you go hmmm...... I believe in taking athletes and will admit that I would be very disappointed if we trade all 3 picks to pick up Gasol. That isn't a slight to Pau, but there is alot of uncertainty. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around."
