I believe Wang's problem is he used to be the best player in China, everything was so easy for him. He didn't have to hustle, didn't have to defend and he'd get his touches and playing time no matter what.

In NBA, it all changed. No hustle, no defense,no rebounds as a 7 footer means no playing time, and he didn't have a Team Yao to help him adapt, so he failed. When Yao came in, he didn't score that much, but he rebounded, defended, so he got playing time. Eventually Yao gets his touches.

Well IMO Wang is hardworking but he just didn't play smart enough when he got the chance... Maybe that has something to do with his communication with players and coaches on court.

I agree, survival of the fittest . question is can Wong adapt if given enough chance? Or he is too old for it? provided he's cheap ;)

    Couldn't agree with you more.

Chinese clutchfans here who watch CNT games more than 5 years should have very good idea how well and how hardworking Wang has been a basketball player.

Anyway, this GARM is all about Rockets, better cease our discussions on Wang now if that had little connection with Rockets.

I think I understand what you were saying, however I have different opinions.

The difference between Yao's first overall pick and Wang's 2nd round 34 pick is HUGE. By no means it can be considered as a TINY incident of a consequent butterfly effect.

I can also say if Hakeem was a 50# pick, he probably wouldn't have been such a great player. Hypothetic argument sometimes does not make much sense.

Wang does have talent, but who in this league doesn't?
Given enough chances, most NBA bench players will achieve better than they have achieved right now. That's albosultely true, but doesn't prove anything. The problem is there are so many much more talented players in this league. One has to prove himself deserving more chances than others.

Couldn't believe my eyes this thread has reaches 6 pages, so it wouldn't hurt I made it a little bit longer since we are out of topic here right now. ;)

Yi has a poor mid-range field goal percentage. He need to make great efforts before he can offer a half performance of Yao.

Great news about Wang. Apparantly, he's been working with a trainer and spent some time at the big man camp. He looks like a beast:

Also get Ha Seung Jin from D-league as Yao's backup. What a briliant idea. The sad thing is there is no Aisian Isiah Thomas in the league :D :D

    well....

on the subject of Zhi Zhi....when he used to play for Dallas, my aunt and uncle saw him eating at the restaurant they were at. Promptly my aunt turned around and said, "That's the biggest wang I've ever seen".

haha that was funny!!! as for wang..... Hes a big waste of space on the bench.... What has he done lately? Even when he was on the miami roster.... what did he do? He doesnt do anything well in the NBA... U have to be good at everything or specialize at something... He does nothing well. I think there are too many people who want to make this team a Chinese Team! haha We are trying to win... not trying to give chinese players jobs... Id rather keep CHUCK HAYES who does everything better then Wany except shoot 3's....

I don't care about Wang ZhiZhi or anyone else from China... CHINESE POSTERS READ THIS

I don't care about Wang ZhiZhi or anyone else from China... CHINESE POSTERS READ THIS

All I care about is Yao and the Rockets. I don't care if all you Chinese fans suggest that we get Wang, Jianlin or any Chinese player. WE ARE NOT THE FARM TEAM FOR CHINESE PLAYERS. If the next coming of Michael Jordan is going to be Chinese, then fine. No scrubs! Don't you think the other scouts in the NBA don't know who's going to be the next superstar from China? Do you think that for some reason that we have Yao, that we would be able to pay the CNT money under the table to get our pick? The answer is HELL NO!

I don't care if we get a player who is Chinese, Japanese, Iraqi, or Martian.. just give me a good player that could help the Rockets woes of late. What next, do we start asking for a Chinese Van Goofy? How about Del Harris? Should we get Del cause him and Yao have a great relationship. My point is, mainly to all of the YOF from China, stop the stupidity!
