LOL, and therein lies the (flawed) logic of the typical JVG hater. If we happen to win a few WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, it's because of Yao and T-Mac, but if not, it's all JVG's fault!!!

You think he'll ever refer to Amare as "Gimpy"?

Actually, I was saying this last year even ROX was in the playoff. I never mentioned this crapy season. The point is his coaching style, his player choosing style and his ability on offense is not good enough. As I said, he might get lucky to win a title with both Tmac and Yao, but I don't believe ROX, under his coaching, can dominate NBA for a long run, like 3 or 4 years. On a second thought, if Rox can't do that with Tmac and Yao, who to blame?
Yes, I respect JVG's hard working attitude, but I hate his offense, and he is simply not good enough. I do admit he is an OK/average coach, however, with two superstars stepping into their best career years, houston deserves a better one.

i've actually been watching noah b/c i was a fan of yannick. im pissed that we're not tanking. integrity??! pish.. if we purposely tanked the entire season then maybe.. but there was a slight chance that we would make the playoffs. like .00002 %. looks like larry brown might actually have a team next season with noah in the lineup.

noah, yao, mcgrady..... dam. that wouldve been great.

thanks van gundy. thank you all of you idealistic idiots.

Coach should be critisized for winning any games this last month of the season. Once the playoffs are out of sight, the responsible thing to do is improve the value of the upcoming draft asset. Shame on coach for putting his ego ahead of the good of the organization.

Noah is already rich. He doesn't need the money, and he's said that he thinks the NBA is boring and college basketball is so much better. I don't think he'll rush in.

One more year and, barring any crazy injuries like this year, if the team doesn't improve, the coach (as always) will have to take the hit.

That quote shows that he's a spoiled brat that would get knocked up if he makes it to the NBA. He's more of man/woman then a man/child.
He's also one ugly mofo like Sheldan Williams.

Yeah, I fully agree. I wish he had tried to focus on the offensive side of the ball and become one of the great teams like Seattle (#2 in scoring), Washington (#3), or Toronto (#4). Team that focus on defense first like San Antonio (#21) and Detroit (#17) will never win anything.

A smart coach recognizes that there are two parts of the game that have to be taught seperately. Offense is fun, defense is not. If you teach offense first, players will go out and have fun and be less motivated to learn defense. If you focus on defense first, it will be engrained as part of the system, and then the players will be happy to learn the offense. This worked perfectly for both San Antonio and Detroit, who were mediocre offensively at the start of their dynasties but built a foundation on defense.

Not surprisingly, this is what the Rockets did last year, and towards the end of the season, were a great offensive team, scoring over 100 pts in 8 of their final 11 games and routinely breaking 100 pts over the last few months of the season.

Exactly. How can anyone fault JVG's offensive coaching the season given the players he's had to work with? That we're as good as were are defensively is a credit to JVG's coaching. But there isn't a coach in the league that could get this team to be an even average offensive team.

But who was responsible for hiring the players? The long string of Knick retreads we've had here would suggest that JVG has had a huge say in the personnel moves of this franchise. We also saw how reluctant and visibly nervous CD was during the Mike James trade, which is more evidence that JVG was the biggest force behind the deal. If the Stro and DA busts were also the fault of our balding coach, he should pay the price for screwing up.

not about the money but the opportunity to compete with the best.
Supposedly, TJ Ford came out b/c he got injured during a pick-up game and realised that his NBA career could end before it even began.

JVG will be replaced by me....HAHA :D
the first thing i am gonna do is waiving Ryan Bowen and benching JH.
then i will trade wesley and Alston to Raptor for MJames. I will pick players for PG and C
I will personally talk to swift and tell him"Jump! when the ball is coming down"
Then my line up will be
    MJ (pick)
    Head (Frahm)
    Tmac (hayes)
    Swift (JH)
    Yao (pick)

Then we will beat Sun in the western Finale. Beat Heat in the Final and win the champion.
Then my Name will be chant by the fans, I will be the No1 famouse People In China. then i will make a lot of money. Then i will buy the rox...Then I will hire CD back...and Hire Larry Brown as our head coach............and......

I agree that Van Gumby should be fired. Why waste another season watching this 'walk it down and bricklaying style of basketball. Why waste another year of TMAC and YAO in their prime messing around with this "Nepolionic Midget"! If Van Gundy would be flexible and bring in more ofensive minded/talented players, I would consider giving him the benefit of the doubt. But he continues to be inflexible and unrealistic in his planning and expectations from horrible players which he collects like a stray dog collects fleas. This is not NY, and these are not the freaking Knicks! Change is good in every realm that exists. It definiely would be good for the ROX next season.

Now we see Yao became another victim because of JVG's stubborn and stupid game plan. Come on, he injuried his ankle the night before. And don't give me that "Yao is a warrior and he wants to play", you are a coach and have the right to bench him whenever neccessary. You can not prevent injuries but you can prevent it from getting worse.... Sometimes I just don't understand why there are still guys whining "I would give him another season just because of the injuries...we were in playoff for two years....he is a hard working and great defense coach". Do you realize his short-sight, stubborness and player-pick decision could cause more disaster to Rox?

There were numerous times this year JVG has made extremely poor coaching decisions. You are right about the roster, but we are still stuck with a mediocre coach, if that.
