Well, I wouldn't say that I ABSOLUTELY don't want to see him in a Rockets' uni, but considering they hype surrounding him and particularly the position that the "experts" are predicting that he'll be selected,...

    Shane Battier.

Don't get me wrong, I think he's going to be a nice NBA player with a long career, but some have pegged him as a top 7 pick, some as the #1 overall pick. There are players with a lot more talent and (I hate using this word) UPSIDE that should be available.

I mean, from the Rocks' perspective, if Shane's available at #18, he's a steal. But if he's available at #13, I say pass, there will be better players available.

Now, as for the player most likely to be a total and complete bust, I vote for Tyson Chandler. From what I've read, he's not strong enough to be a 4 OR A 3, and he thinks he's a 3 but doesn't handle the ball well enough or shoot well enough, so where do you put him? I mean, at least Bender CAN handle the ball, and there is still hope for him. I hope I'm wrong.

    Live,

I respectively disagree. I think this draft has loads of potential and little substance.

Griffin is the only guy in the draft that looks like he could be a perinial all-star soon. Battier, to me, looks to be a quality starter for years to come starting in November with little chance to bust If Battier goes later than 4th, it will be a solid to great pick.

A lot of people talk about ceilings when drafting, but players hit the basement more often than they hit the ceiling, imo.

Diop deserves some consideration as well. With no college hoop experience, he could very well be the next Yinka Dare.

I'm going to go with Curry and Randolph. When was the last time a fat kid made it in the league?

    Barkley?

One of my bust votes definitely must go to Loren Woods. Sometimes I just don't understand any hype this guy gets, because he is completely undersized for a 7-foot post player, and in the tournament, more times than not, when Arizona needed him to step up he couldn't---too soft for a big man and I'd hate to see him in a Rockets uni.

The other one I think has to go to Zach Randolph. I don't know what he's doing coming out so early, who was advising this kid?

One of the sleepers I like in this draft is Gilbert Arenas. I don't think he gets his due and I think he'll turn out the best out of the Arizona group with the possible exception of Jefferson. Also Jefferson, if he develops a consistent mid-range jumper he can be a really good player.

I think the bust will be Paul Gasol. This is mostly based on the numbers that he picked up, but I think that too many teams are killing themselves trying to pick up "the next Nowitzki." Dirk is a rare find, and the odds are you won't see that happen too often.

I just hope the Rockets don't draft the guy.

BUSTS: DeSagna Diop, Pau Gasol, Michael Bradley, and Troy Murphy.

All of these guys are overhyped. Bradley and Murphy's stats lie as they played generally weak teams and came up short in big games.

STEALS: Joe Forte and Terence Morris

A year ago these guys would be considered early lottery picks, now no one even wants them. It's pathetic. Forte will emerge as the best guard to come out of this draft, he's already a leader and has the skills to become something special. Morris is a great shooter and rebounder(for his size), and will develop into a great 6th man or starting role player. Look for the Rocks to nab one of these guys as they both have the DC/Maryland connection like many other of their players.

    3% body fat=fat?

I don't know about the last guy to make it, but El-Amin, Hamilton, and Oliver Miller are some that didn't.

Shaq has never been fat. He is BIG, and probably could stand to shed a few lbs., but the guy is solid.

Robert Traylor is still in the league, although I am not sure why.

Eddy Curry is a rich man's Thomas Hamilton! [IMG]

In my opinion, Tyson Chandler will be the biggest bust in the draft. He's way too skinny and will get killed in the paint. He got so screwed up mentally in high school from his coach, the agents, and all the free stuff he received, including the infamous $47000 Escalade.

Another dud to watch for is Loren Woods, who will have long mental lapses during the season, like he showed during the NCAA Tournament.

As far as the underrated players go, I love Joe Johnson and Richard Jefferson. Joe will create big time matchup problems as a 6'9" SG and Richard is a world class athlete that works hard at a position he has only played for three years.

Personally, I think Tyson Chandler could be a steal if he's anywhere out of the top five. He will have to bulk up to play in the paint, but I think he'll probably stay out at the SF spot for a while. This is the thing - he's not ready for the pros. But no HS player (Eddy Curry aside) is. He'll need to get in with a good team that can nurture him -- he will be a star when he matures. He reminds me a bit of Tracy Macgrady -- he'll probably do very little for his first two or three years -- then he'll explode. I think he really should go to a team that has some veterans, and one that doesn't try to rush him -- bringing this guy along is like bringing a pitcher up to the majors -- bide your time.

Perhaps a team could sign him and then send him overseas for a year or two?

Personally, I think another steal of this draft could be Rashad Phillips. I think he'll be starting if he gets with a team who needs a PG. Terrence Morris will be a steal, and I'd take a chance on Ousmane Cisse. This guy killed Tyson Chandler at one of the camps, and he is just incredibly athletic -- reminds me of Stromile Swift a little bit. He's a bit of a tweener, but he works so hard, and hustles so much that I'd pick him up -- if he works to develop a better offensive game, he could be a real gem.

This draft is so deep and so talented that picks one through 30 look like they'll be solid contributors -- the top 10 picks are gonna be exceptional, and there are lots of players who will be great -- I think this could be the best draft in many many years -- although with all the younger players, the effect won't be felt for two or three years . . .
