Throwing fruit is what makes someone a goon squad? LOL! Plenty of American Teens egged someone's house when they were growing up. I honestly can't believe anyone is crying and whining over this. What a bunch of babies. In addition there is nothing in that article to point to them being unleashed by Chavez. I am totally nuetral about my money supporting the democratically elected Hugo Chavez. It doesn't bother me that my money does support him, and if I never bought citgo gas and didn't support him, it wouldn't bother me either. Chavez has done a lot of good for the neediest people in his country. I don't hate him for that. I also don't hate him because he harbors ill will towards the country that helped support a coup which removed him from power, until the people rose up and demanded he be put back in place. The US ambassador deserves all sorts of protest from the VEnezuelan people. And if his car gets dirty and has to go through a car wash, I don't really consider that a big deal.
Tell me where you live. Ill come by your house, stalk your family, pound on their car, follow them and throw things while they drive. And if your family crashes and dies, I'll be neutral about that too.
You need to read the whole thread before jumping in, Dreamshake. I'm not the person who claimed the only sources we should use were from the library, so this isn't a case of the pot calling the kettle black. You've unfortunately stepped in half way and gotten your panties in a wad by misunderstanding the discussion. Further, I don't listen to Rush - I don't know who Hannity is, don't watch Fox - don't know what Newsmax is. I'm not a Republican or a conservative (although I share some conservative POV). So the only thing that's asinine and r****ded here is - your response.
If I support a gruop of people that illegally tries to kick you out of your home, and away from your legal job, then I would understand you doing that. Nobody crashed and died. Lay off the drama. They threw some food at a car... big whoop.
what this have to do with "loving" america? i thought the debate would be more sophisticated than this in here
I just don't understand how someone could advocate violence against American diplomats. I can understand criticizing US policy toward a country, but someone who advocates violence against those who carry out that policy is worthy of the strongest scorn.
i dont think he was advocating violence and i havent seen you condemn us support for the coup against chavez
I don't consider throwing fruit at a car, violence against a person. I don't condone it, but I don't think it is that big of a deal either. I don't get worked up because of some harmless food that is no worse than teen pranks played in the U.S. all the time. I'm not into turning things into drama.
I don't condone it. I also don't think it was violence against an American abassador. It was someone throwing some harmless food at a car. Forgive me if I don't whine, cry and moan about that. It isn't that big of a deal. It would be a misdemeanor fine if an American teen was caught doing the same thing to someone who had bullied him.
Whine, cry, blah blah blah blah. Throwing fruit at a stationary car may be harmless. Motorcyclists who follow you, a mob crowd pounding on your car is completely different. You make it sound as though the ambassader went to drop some bats off and found a tomato on the side of his vehicle. If you had a mob crowd follow you and throwing things at your car while driving away, your perception of "violence" might be different.
So if an angry motorcycle mob followed you on the road pelting your car with objects and banging on your vehicle, you would not see that as a perceived threat? Get real.
I would expect that from a group who's democratically elected leader I supported a violent coup to remove. I would definitely feel threatened, and make as quick of an escape as I could. But feeling threatened, and then realizing I just had my car dirtied, in the end is not that big of a deal.
FranchiseBlade's boy in Caracas is now blaming the US ambassador. Priceless. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060410...86UhBm9IxIF;_ylu=X3oDMTA3MXN1bHE0BHNlYwN0bWE-
Notice how Chavez also criticized those that threw the eggs and food. I guess it wasn't him who 'unleashed the goon squads' afterall. By the way blaming the ambassador is lame, and completely ridiculous.
The Cold War's over and now we're squabbling over driving through hostile territory and food fights. Priceless...
You whiny liberal. Can't you see that we need to like, totally invade that country in order to get our oil, um, I mean pride back?
Well Caracas isn’t exactly the safest place in the world. I have first hand experience from living there. It's a rough city, having people kick your car is really no big deal. If his life was ever in any danger the ambassador wouldn’t be alive, that’s the type of town it is. I’ve also lived in Libya, where I’ve been stoned endlessly, but that is life in Libya, they think anyone light skinned is American, and damn they friggin hate Americans. They don’t really want to kill you but they do want to scare you, if they ever really wanted to hurt us they could have. It’s the same thing in Caracas, there probably was security around when the ambassador was leaving, if they ever felt a threat for his life they would have taken appropriate action, but throwing food and kicking a car in that part of the world isn’t exactly considered life threatening. so i don't think you really understand what a threat really is in those kinds of places. you can tell by the crowd if it is going to be dangerous. If you havn't lived in these types of countries you have no idea what i'm talking about.
