1 decent rest last summer. he works out well just take a look at his arms. 2 his games before the injury already had showed lots of improvement. But Yao had a big surgery this summer which means he didn't have enought time to adjust to his new physical condition then it affects its shooting. i still remember the first couples of games when he came back from surgery. he played for CBA in the Asian cup and the shooting is just terrible!! 3 then going back to the rox he already improved to like 19.9 and 9 which also is a big improvement from last year. like some of you said you guys saw some aggression already. when his shooting percentage came back. then he is unstopable. All in all stronger upper body and enough rest are the most important reasons why he improves so much. there are some mental reasons but really are not the main reasons.
For me Yao Ming still has quite a way to go! I see the improvement but I still see the unselfish Yao, the one that moves away from the play and hides from getting the ball. I see the the Yao that is ashamed of scoring forty points in a game. If Yao scores anywhere close to twenty points in a first half just watch how his game changes in the second half,to making a big effort to set up his team mates rather than going for the big score. This is the big mountain that lies before him and it's his to conquer
I think Yao's numbers have gone up for several reasons. (1) Toe injury fixed. He looks quicker and more mobile to me, and now he's driving opposing centers underneath the basket. He's not laboring anymore. (2) Improved post passing. They aren't struggling to get him the ball as much anymore. (3) Confidence against the double team. He will often hold the ball, then spin away from the double team for a fadeaway. I am still surprised he's been able to average 28/13 since the All-Star break. It's as if the zone doesn't work against him anymore. Yao doesn't get any easy baskets from TMac anymore, but he's still shooting over 50%. I was actually disappointed that Yao "only" got 22/10 last night, even though those are good numbers.
simple, here is why 1. toe fixed. if you've read del harris' recount you know what yao had been through day in an day out. painfree enables him moving quicker and stronger. 2. self-confidence. yao has to believe himself that he is one of the best, if not the best center in this league. others believe in him helps but won't be a deciding factor. 3. without tmac, he is the only option. thus more touches, more scores, more rebonds, ... a combination of those factors interact together makes a new and better yao.
YAO sucks ,he can be consistent............. pls trade him ,I am sick of watching his slow motion !!!!!!!!!
I hope it's not just a HOT STREAK... because Blazers game didn't make me happy.. I know I wanted them to lose ..but Yao for 13 ?? .. lets just hope that he just had a bad game and he will be back like usual (30 & 10)
Come on people. Players have bad games. 7 games ago against Dallas Yao scored 13 points. And all this was heard again. Yao reverted to his old ways, blah, blah, blah... then he goes on a tear way he scores his usual post ASG game 28 and 10. Yao didn't regress. He had a bad game and obviously wasn't in to the game. Sure, he needs to take every game seriously focus on playing his hardest. For some reason last night he just wasn't doing it. I doubt last night's game was a sign of Yao going back to his old ways. Let him do it for more than one game, heck, let's let it go for at least three games, before we claim the new Yao dead.
Geesh, you got 35 games from Yao after surgery, then one bad game, and you become this b****y? It was just a "hot streak" for your center to average 22/10 for a season? My gosh if Yao has a bad game tomorrow, let's just trade him!
People will never be satisfied b/c they kept on raising their expectation of Yao everytime he goes to prove people wrong. Most of the people on this board thought Yao would only be a 20/10 player when he hit his peak and he already went beyond that and exceeded everyone's expecation, so for people to knock on Yao b/c of a couple of bad game shows what kind of fans they really are...and one things for sure, they ain't a true Rockets fan and are only in for the ride when things are goin great. My god, can't these super-star like T-Mac, Kobe,Lebron and Shaq have a crappy game every once in a while without being so critical? The last time I've check Yao is still averaging 27/12 since the all star break.
I thought this was meant to be a "What happened to Yao after the Portland game?" thread... but anyway...
I thought he was being funny and sarcastic but looking at his other post proves that he's for real and all he does is b*tch and moan about Yao.
I don't think what he said is enough to get him banned. He wasn't using provocative words or doing personal insult, or something like that. I already put him on my ignoring list. In fact, it's more annoying to me to see posters keep quoting a guy whom I put on my ignoring list, because it nullifies my effort to ignore him.
have u ever thought that he might just lack the intensity to play? I know he'll try but if u lack the intensity u still won't perform as well. the rockets know now that its pointless to win these games
I agree with Point 3 very much. He's got more chances to shoot, 22 times or more per game. To shoot over 50% has never been a problem for him, even before the allstar weekend. When Tmac is here, even Yao can make it over 60%, only 18 points could he get though 15 shoots(without FT). I doubt he can still get so good datas if Tmac comes back.
