Details here: http://www.joystiq.com/2006/04/07/red-steel-first-revolution-screens-revealed/ Some of the scans: More here: http://www.endangeredgamer.blogspot.com/ There is some doubt as to whether or not these are touched up like other early game shots from Ubisoft (they supposedly have a poor track record in this area), but the game does look pretty nice. Almost makes me doubt the specs IGN gave, although Ubisoft did pull off some nice things on the Xbox. Still, I was expecting a lot worse after those articles. The game itself sounds fun as well. Seems like Ubisoft is using the Revolution control scheme very nicely. I'd love to see this in motion at E3....man, E3 is going to be awesome.
I wish. I have finals during E3, although even if I didn't, I doubt I'd be able to go. By seeing it at E3, I mean seeing new videos released during E3. I probably should have worded that differently.
Very nice. Good to see a sign that we would see some variety too; along with Nintendo's offerings, some change of pace from third parties. Lots of potential here. And shame on you RC, the first time I actually see you mention the fallacy of hype screenshots, and you do it in order to peg another company. For shame! Just wait till Svpernaut sees this...
I didn't even think of that until you mentioned it. Good point. Now I feel even worse about Untold Legends PS3 since those were PR shots. I only mentioned it since some people made a big deal about it most likely being touched up, something Ubi apparently does all the time (guess others don't, or at least not as much). More of a knock against Ubisoft than Nintendo I guess. I remember seeing some early scans from SC4 for the 360 that looked like game shots (and seemingly great ones at that), but they turned out to be concept art (couldn't tell from the scans). Those were some fun times. Touched up or not, I'd probably still say "wow," especially since I've been expecting less and less as time went on.
It looks like Ninja Gaiden on steroids. In a couple of years, these graphics will look cartoony in comparison. I think Nintendo had a good look at how much they'd have to spend to make photorealistic graphics like the PS3 is promising and decided the most minimalist design in their specs. The decision to keep it in standard def really helped matters. This does set them up to be big players the next (next) generation without breaking the bank on the Rev.
Understood. In addition, this shocks me a little: Game Informer is one of the last places I'd expect to see Revolution cover stories. If third parties embrace the idea of the Rev controller, and Nintendo doesn't find a way to screw it up, they could have a very profitable (not like N doesn't make profit anyway, but you know what I mean) system on their hands.
Is there some sort of bad blood between Gameinformer and Nintendo? I don't really follow the gaming magazines that much. I though I read that Game Informer is the most popular magazine in the US (by far I think), so that might explain why they got the exclusive. It was kind of funny because Matt from IGN has been hinting at this game for quite a while, and now he's all depressed since they didn't get the exclusive. A more profitable Nintendo is a scary thought. We might start getting Nintendo buying Microsoft rumors instead of the other way around.
It is their latest issue (May I think), which some subscribers are just now getting. I’m not sure how each magazine does things, but I thought it was something like subscribers get it early in the month, and the magazine would hit shelves at the end of the month. Might be wrong about that though. This issue also has some interesting rumors. Here are some of the rumors: -Bungie and Ensemble are working on a Halo FPS MMO -Microsoft is trying really hard to make GTA exclusive, or at least a timed exclusive (didn't need Gameinformer to tell me this). -FF7 for the PS3 is in development with the FFXII battle system. Rumors...got to love them.
I was going to post this last night, but figured RC Cola was going to do it soon anyway, and I was right. Now that the thread exists, I'd just like to throw in some more stuff about the game. This is basically a compilation of what is known about the game, some of which was deciphered from the not-so-readable text from the Game Informer screen shots. In a word, this game sounds "badass".
