This is a few days old so sorry if this was posted already ... http://foxsports.com/nba/home/nba_news.cfm?source=st&cont_id=61366 ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
Imagine an athletic and talented 7'1" Small forward swiching 3 pointers and backing it up against the shandon Andersons, and other shorter Small forwards. That would be awsome. Gasol if as advertised will be a top 5 pick at least. ------------------
Clutch, Have you heard from Doc Rocket, or anyone else, if the Rockets are real high on Gasol? I imagine they would be. Also, for anyone who wants to respond, do you think the Bulls would trade the 4th pick for Shandon, Cato and the 13th? That way we get a player that we are all gonna be happy with at 4 and fill Shandon and Cato's vacancies with the 18th and 22nd. ------------------
Not if Shandon is still on the Rockets! ------------------ "If you don't understand it, don't try to understand it." -Carl Everett
Tacoma Park Legend- I would make that trade in a heart beat. The only problem is that Shandon would have to agree to go to Chicago, that is doubtful. But just think, we get rid of Cato and get the number 4 pick!!! We could also throw in the Bryce Drew obligations to sweeten the pot for the Bulls. ------------------
i would definitly do that trade. the bulls would have to give up about $10 million in cap space. so i doubt they would consider it. ------------------ [This message has been edited by smoothie (edited May 30, 2001).]
How much weight does that carry with any deal we might be able to put together with the Bulls? ------------------ "If you don't understand it, don't try to understand it." -Carl Everett
I'm on unsure ground here, but wouldn't trading Shandon be impossible since he is a free agent and FA's can't be signed and traded until Aug. 1, well after the draft is conducted? The same goes for Dan Langhi, who also is a free agent. ------------------
Well, I am pretty sure that they cannot deal any of their 1st round draft picks anytime in the next three years. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
I think one could compare the Bryce Drew obligation in a sense to Kelvin Cato. The paying to Cato himself doesn't hurt Les too bad financially (sure, it's a big deal, but Les makes an enormous amount of money), but it hurts us in terms of flexibility. The obligation itself doesn't hurt Chicago too bad, (first rounder of their choice, or 2 2nd rounders), but from what I understand, they're not allowed to trade their pick. Perhaps it's just future picks, but it could mean their current pick as well...meaning all those rumors of moving up from #4 to #1 are not possible. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
Just read this from the Chicago Sun Times. Seems like they are shopping for a SF and dumping Fizer for Szczerbiak. http://www.suntimes.com/output/bulls/bullnt29.html ------------------ In the end there will be no judges...only witnesses to my greatness.
Thanks for the article Curly, So does this mean that the likelyhood of them trading the 4th pick increases or decreases? ------------------
Don't know for sure, but I believe that they would be looking for a PF like Brown after they pick up a FA SF. And most have him going early. ------------------ In the end there will be no judges...only witnesses to my greatness.
