It's pretty easy to understand officiating. You have stars in today's game not teams. So many fans stand behind stars and if one is taken out of the game by hard foul the NBA organisation loses a lot. So you have to make them untouchable that other guys rather step away then commit a hard foul. Like Pippen said: you could literaly hold a guy in the past and cannot touch him nowadays. This is why NBA drifts miles apart from foundational BB. Haven't you realised all lately that Yao goes more to the line since this media recognition. Stardom has come to mr. Yao, he just needs to keep the pace.. IMO the call should be revisited by replay in tough deceisons.. ..like last years's Finley's out of bounds steal.
