Note to MManal: 6-8 or 6-9 -- most of us would prefer to have an extra inch.

Note to enbehay -- I know that. Thats the point Im trying to make, read the post a little closer.

Venegeance is saying that Morris is shorter in height than Walt, and I am just clarifying that Morris is actually TALLER than Walt not SHORTER.

I thought Walt was 6'10? Wow . . . just checked espn and I was wrong -- why did I think Walt was that tall?? hmmm . . .

anyhow, that makes the case that Morris is a taller, better Walt Williams

Okay, I'll be serious. I don't think you can have a "steal" unless drafted past the top five. My pick is Sagana Diop -- if he goes to a team so center-starved that he is either a starter or plays heavy backup minutes every game. It's called trial by fire. If that is not his situation or is picked before #5, then my choice for "Steal of the Draft" (SOD) is Joe Johnson.

I'm gonna have to go with Ousmanne Cisse. Of course, if he does poorly in workouts, he could fall big time just like Olumide Oyedeji did.

You probably thought he was a bigger stiff than he really is.

Ok, this is bizarre. I Just went to a site that claims Cisse has a 91" reach. Now I'm hoping they meant wingspan (which would still be incredible), but reach?! [IMG]

Also, I agree with those of you who say this kid may be the steal of the draft. From everything I've read, he oozes raw talent. He just needs to refine his game. And since he's only 18, he's got time to do that. Whether or not the Rockets want to wait for that, I don't know. If he's around with their last pick, I say we take him.

I think Tyson Chandler may drop out of the top five to around 7 to 9 and if someone picks him up there, that will be a HUGE steal as well, imo . . .

I doubt Chandler will fall that low. Forte will be THE STEAL of the draft.

There is a bust of the draft thread so I had to start this one [IMG]

My vote goes to Ousmane Cisse or Terrance Morris.

Ousmane IMO is going to be a rebounding defensive machine in the form of Rodman.

Terrance Morris will be like drafting Sean Elliot in the second round.

Morris could be a real steal if he is added to the right team. He needs to be in a situation where he can just blend in and be the 3rd or 4th option. The Rockets should give him consideration in the late first round or if they trade down to the early second round, give him a look at that point.

Morris's situation is basically one of not meeting the unreasonably high expectations that were put on him. His offensive game just is not designed to be a #1 option in the offense and his mentality is not that of a #1. However, when he plays along side a dominant player ie Steve Francis that can create opportunities, he shines.

I agree 100% -- if Ousmane develops an offensive game (which i think he could), he'll be incredible -- he's already an awesome defender and rebounder. I would love it if the Rocks could pick this guy up late in the first.

Morris reminds me of Elliot as well, but he could also be kindof like a shorter, better defending Walt Williams. At the very least, he'll be a solid contributor.

I really like Rashad Phillips as well -- I think he'll be a good player, and a steal in the second round.

I also like Kenny Gregory. He's inconsistent, but I really think he'll be able to be a quality backup. He may not be a steal, but he'll be worth a pick in the second round (not for the rocks, as he's a SG). Will be a quality backup for someone . .

Morris is 6-9 with long arms, Walt Williams is 6-8.

Unless he goes top 3 (which I don't think he will, because the teams that want him wil ltrade down for him), Shane Battier will be the steal of the draft.

It may not be the popular thing to be a college senior amongst a crowd of high school big men, but Battier's got the skills to make it happen in the NBA.

He reminds me of Grant Hill without quite the explosiveness. He has a fairly nice shot - better than what Grant did, I think, coming out of college - and has all of the tools to improve. He'll be worthy of whatever pick he gets taken at, if not higher.

I'd say Rashard Philips has a chance at this nomination, but he could either be the next Iverson or the next Troy Hudson. A chance some team will be willing to take around pick 30, I'm sure.

Cisse will be a nice sleeper and I'm hoping he lasts to 23 for the Magic. Some sites have him slipping out of the 1st round, but I don't see that. He may be one of the better forwards in the draft in time, perhaps a Fortson type of player.

I've seen Morris going anywhere from late 1st to late 2nd and don't see how he could slip out of the early 2nd myself. He's still got a lot of upside and just needs the right system and the right coach to put that to use.

If Rodney White doesn't go in the top 5, he's a steal. The kid is good. Antoine Walker-ish, perhaps.

Cisse, no doubt! If he goes 2nd round, he is THE bonafide steal.
