I saw it at the auto show here in Toronto. It looks more like a Lexus. It's very nice, i think they are trying to move away from that 'car for grandpa' look. By the way the Honda Accord is nasty. Okay for soccer moms. :p

Yeah I keep wondering how that Accord design managed to make it past focus groups. Every year they find a way to make that car uglier from the outside. I can't understand it.

I think the Civic is a little disappointing in the looks department, too.

This is a very refreshing look for the Camry though. I'm almost tempted to buy one (and I'm someone who would almost never buy a Camry). What kind of power does it pack? How does it hold up against, say an Altima V6?

The pics have been out for a while now. What I find humorous is that the Accord seems to be getting more mundane in styling and the Camry more edgy. Toyota knew it had one of the most reliable but bland cars in production and decided to make an Avalon Jr. out of it. They finally gave the thing an engine to at least mumble, if not talk about. As long as it lasts like most Toyotas, they'll have a winner.

    :D

The Camry is near the top of my list. It's the first car I'm going to test drive.

I test drove the Camry '07 SE last weekend. It's a pretty sweet ride. I especially like the sport version. I love that 260+ hp V6. It kind of felt like a race car. I guess they tightened up the suspension and re-inforced the car some...along with some little things like leather-wrapped steering wheel, different colors in the driving console, and a higher quality fabric used on the seats...better than what you can get in the lower LE model. You get more feel in the steering wheel when driving. It was still a smooth ride, though. The only thing I didn't particularly care for is the rear seats are rigid in the SE and don't fold down...unlike the LE and XLE models.

I also drove the RAV4. It also has an excellent engine. It was a good ride. But, didn't like it as much as the Camry.

Anyway, I may be picking one up in the next week or two. I can't seem to decide on color. I like the Titanium Metallic, Black, or Aloe Green Metallic exteriors. Black gets hot in the summer, though. I'm leaning toward the Aloe Green Metallic. Should be fun driving that car! No stability control option for me! It's also amazing how much a stereo/sound system upgrade costs. I think I'm just going to go default and maybe change it out later BUT the sound system upgrade adds two more speakers. Oh well...can't win em all.

Some early '07 Camrys, maybe the first 165 off the production lot, had a problem with a part in the transmission. If the problem occurred(usually in the first 500 miles), then the 5-speed automatic transmission will not be able to get into 1st and 5th gears meaning your relegated to gears 2-4 until the problem is fixed. It appears they corrected it early on but it would suck to get a bad one. Imagine driving from a stop with a manual transmission with the car in 2nd gear.

    Camry's are great cars.

The rule is to never buy a car in it's first year. If they made changes to the drive train, this really doesn't mean much, unless your faith is strong.

My wife has owned 3 Toyotas and they are great cars.

That's really not saying much :p

Camrys are good family sedans, probably the best on the market.

I like the new Camry's, but Im suprised that their already discounting them. I usually dont see this trend unless if the vehicle isn't selling as well as expected.

Make sure you test drive the ACCORD before that or right after that, so you can see how smooth the ride is on the CAMRY.

I just got one 2 weeks ago. I got black LE with Leather and navigation. Had to put more money for the navigation since they don't make it for LE. Oh will it sure looks good and is smooth as any Lexus. It also kinda looks like the new IS.

I heard the new batch of avalons and camrys have transmission recalls. Best stay away until they fix it.

It's a small percentage but even still, something to think about. Unusual for toyota who is usually bulletproof.

I've owned my share of camry's and this by far is the nicest one so far. Definitely not bland compared to it's previous years.
