Can Somebody Explain the Immigration Situation to Me?

    I was wondering if somebody could give me a synopsis of the immigration situation and why a big deal is being made out of it. I haven't read any material on it but have seen it discussed on this BBS, the news, and the internet but I still have failed to gather the gist of what the uproar is about. I am not taking anybody's side just wanting to be informed on what is going on.
